Gee, just what everyone wants for the holiday - an uppity dickhead with a badge!

So his grave offenses were going 70 in 65 mph zone and no rear plate on the vehicle. Then I guess he was just too slow for this cop.

Show me your documents now or be tasered!

What a country...

Why did the driver have to have such an 'tude?
Why not just hand over the driver's license and say, "Yes, sir"? The driver was the dickhead here, IMHO.

But you already knew that.

Oh please...the guy had all of about 12 seconds to be a "dickhead" and apparently (although I couldn't see it clearly from the video) he got hit with the door coming out of the vehicle, which arguably wasn't necessary to begin with.  This officer overreacted in a major way in my opinion.

Even the police chief of that department issued a statement that he is using this video for training in the future to prevent future incidents.  http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/10/04/1004roundup.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=52

In the Chief's statement he calls it employee misconduct
http://www.statesman.com/news/mplayer/m/32387

Haha apparently his fellow officers are also speaking out against him:
http://www.jonesreport.com/articles/021007_apologize_taser.html

Here's a statement from the driver:
http://www.statesman.com/news/mplayer/m/32406

and the officer upon questioning said he pulled his taser out "in case he needed it".
http://alt.coxnewsweb.com/statesman/pdf/09/0930video_affidavit.pdf

By the way does anyone know what the current error range is on radar?

Thank god tapes like this get out.

The shock and awe tactics and quick draw Mcgraw pointing his tazer, was way over the top.

Sometimes it takes time to find your papers. How many of us misplace them or lose them behind the car seat? This guy wants instant response and military precision.Jerk.Big meanie...

Hey,Invictus, better make sure you keep track of your papers...Better make sure you can find them in less than 12 seconds,or get busted, like in this case. You`re liabel to get tazed if you don`t.

Something tells me that law and order types like yourself, would be the loudest crybabies, if this was to happen to you or your loved ones.

Tase first, ask questions later... and in my opinion if this so-called peace officer had pulled over a white woman, he would never have behaved like that

Nope - she was not violent. If there is a reason to arrest, do it. Tasering her for being noncomplience is over the top. Under that rationale Gandhi would have failed to free India. They would simply have tasered him to death, like this guy over here:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1964707186772642906&q=taser+death&total=52&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=7

or here:
"Man dies after police jolt him with stun gun"
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/11/18/taser.death/

And what was that about the eggshell skull rule? How about this bullshit?
"Tasers Implicated in Excited Delirium Deaths"
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7622314

Yup, we need a special bullshit term for conditions that don't exist when you die in police custody:

It's very hard to tell from the video what happened just prior to the taser being used, although the officer says she took a swing at the second officer that arrived.  I would agree, however, having an attitude alone is not enough to use force.

I've got to side with laurell3 no this one. I've seen many vids where the driver clearly asked for it. But in this case, that cop was just a prick.

I agree with Owner on this, it was a rightious tazing.
The cop asked her about 5 times to get out of the car.
If a cop asked me to get out of my vehicle I'd do it.
You have to comply with their orders.
Plus she shouldn't have been driving with no liscense.

did anyone else notice that this happened in 2006?

and what is so hard about following directions from a cop? if they say hand me your license and registration, just do that and sit quietly.  then if they taze you, ill be fighting about the injustice that has befallen you.

part of my learning to drive lessons from dad was....if you get pulled over, put your hands on top of the steering wheel, and sit and wait for instructions from the cop.  and for petes sake, dont run your mouth.....
