I identify primarily as a submissive - and if I had to put percentages on it about 90/10, but still have those fantasies and such. I browse around these forums because my Dominant identifies as a switch and there may come a time when I occationally top for his "bottom" needs.

Anyway, I have experienced this. For me, it is mostly because I have reached a point in my submission that has a block and the part of me that would dig in her heels a little or have an internal struggle turns to the small part of me that has domme leanings. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. This might not be what happens to people that are a little more equal on the dominant/submissive continum, but that's how I experience it. *chuckles* No, not the best way to deal with it and I usually recognize it for what it is and work it out in a better way. ;)

I do, but maybe that's because I'm more dominant than submissive. It would mainly happen during a power struggle, especially with someone else with both dominant and submissive tendencies. I'm not sure about other "switches", but I really enjoy power struggles as a form of foreplay a la Basic Instinct without the ice pick.

Tomtam, I do.

It happens frequently that I want to switch in the middle of a play. Like being a rebel submissive taking back his freedom and enslaving the dominant or being the dominant falling under the charm of the poor soul. The more dominant the woman is, the more I will desire to dominate her.
The more submissive the woman is, the more degrading her domination would be. The thing I truly like is the opposition I guess.
A bit like the bitter moon movie (not their plays but the scenario).

But people open for such things are rare.

As a Domme with a male slave in residence, who is a switch, but sub to me, I have learned to be flexible and go with the flow. He can be very needy when he is not in his alpha male mode. The easiest way to be flexible is for me to assign the task of pulling out the toys to him. He will always bring out a variety, to please his Mistress. But I can see his mood by what he brings out. I do not stifle his creativity as I do not wish to frustrate him. I encourage him to explore his moodiness, but remind him who he belongs to.
