CuriousLord -> Getting Drunk (12/2/2007 10:30:02 PM)

Alright guys.  Confession time!  I'm a virgin.  That's right, a virgin.  I've never done it.

Not that I haven't tried.  It was sort of awkward, the time I got closest to it.  You see, my cousin, she has a couple of years on me.  She's also a lesbian, but we're pretty close.  Her and I, unlike most of our family, are rather stoic.  We could go on those long car rides without saying much at all, and it was nice.

Back when I turned eighteen, she and I decided to try to get some for me.  With her and her then-girlfriend at the same time.  We started off, the three of us, at the bowling alley with a pitcher of beer, playing a set of games in which I was showing off to her girlfriend my superior.. dexterity.. in consistently scoring strikes with unnecessarily powerful throws, despite the fact I had only bowled about five or six times before that in my life.  Heh, I got to brag.  ;)

We went back to my aunt's house, opened up all the various sorts of alcohol we could find, and went drinking together.  While my cousin managed to get back to bed on her own, her girlfriend and I joined her, the the girlfriend in my arms.  She was so cute!  She had this look of childlike glee in her eyes, cuddling up to me as I tucked her into the covers; nevermind the fact that she was, in truth, seven years older than me.

After that, I finished off several more glasses of wine (not wine glasses, mind you) and the pitcher of beer, along with a couple shots of the various hard liquors whose names I never cared to learn.

And that's pretty much it.  It just plain didn't happen.

---

The best part about the story above is that it is 100% true.. provided, of course, that you understand that "virgin" was talking about my being-drunk virginity.

The story above, while humorously suggestive, also details the one time that I did try.  Besides that, I've had some drinks, but never enough that even stood a fair chance of it.  And, now, at this point.. I'm quite glad not to have the habit affecting my mind, wallet, schedule or waist size.

But.. this all leaves me still wondering.. what's it like to be drunk?

If anyone wants to quote my "Confession time!  I'm a virgin.  That's right, a virgin.  I've never done it." in their sig, feel free.  ;)

So you think.  My cousin's girlfriend was adorable!

Oh.. you mean about drinking?  Yeah, people keep telling me that.  Then they procede to the bar later that night.

We're on a site that is very very sexually oriented, but sex really is over-rated.  Being a virgin is not a good or bad thing, it is just a thing.   Don't worry about it.  Instead, try to find friends and build relationships.  Sex will happen in time, there really is no reason to worry about it not happening quickly enough.

If you wish to discuss this with a guy that's 37, twice divorces, has a kid, and knows a bit about kink........e-mail me and I'll give you my Yahoo IM.

I wish you well my friend.

I appreciate the sentiment.  I'm afraid the post began with a purposefully misleading story, as I meant I'm a virgin to getting drunk (in the respect that I've never been drunk before) and that I'm curious what it's like.

The opening story was supposed to be sort of a poke at fun, but it did turn out to be a tad long winded.

Muttling -> RE: Getting Drunk (12/2/2007 11:32:29 PM)

LOL........That too is more trouble than it is worth.   Booze can provide a fun buzz but actually getting drunk leads to stupidity and a hangover.   Being drunk is way over-rated.

Regardless of what anyone tells you.....Alchohol is a drug.   It can be a relaxing drug that loosens the inhibitions and helps you to let go of stress, but too much comes with dire consequences.

Take your time and choose wisely my friend.

Edit:   As for what it's like, it's hard to describe.   You will find it far easier to do things that you wouldn't have done previously out of fear for the reprocutions.  Your head (especially the sinuses) will be a bit numb.   Your thoughts come far more slowly as do your responses.   Confusion is a good way to describe it, but it's not entirely accurate.  You don't worry about things that once worried you which can be good AND bad.

Thanks; this is what I've been curious about.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Getting Drunk (12/3/2007 12:25:38 AM)

Just to be clear, there is a distinct difference between "drinking" and "getting drunk".  There's no reason they have to go hand-in-hand, provided it's a responsible adult doing the imbibing.  With that said, I can only give you my opinion.  I would say that every person should be drunk once, just to experience it.  I've been drunk many times in my life, having gone through a wild 21-year-old phase.  Honestly, it wasn't worth it.  Do it once, stop at one time and chalk it up to life experience.  It sucks, especially the next day.  Most people do not enjoy feeling out of control, doing things they won't remember the next day, and generally acting like an ass.  If that sounds up your alley, go for it.  If not, you're not missing out.

I enjoy drinking with friends on occasion, including at the wine-laden Trivial Pursuit and DDR parties we have on Tuesdays and our random dance parties, but the goal is never to get drunk.  I'll have two drinks, three at the most, and call it a good evening.  I do not like being smashed.  A small happy glow is typically welcome, but there's a difference between a small buzz and a roaring drunk.

Here's my advice, if you would like to get drunk once or twice:  Drink a strong, sweet drink of your choice (Baltimore Zoos will knock you off your feet after three of them) and sit for a bit while drinking.  After a couple hours and a few drinks, try to get up to dance.  Doing something physically demanding after several drinks is always a good litmus test for whether you're drunk or not.  Dizzy?  Happy?  Pukey?  You're drunk.  Hoorah!

My post has been really useless.  But hey, you read it.  I really can't describe being drunk, because there are so many different types of it.  There's happy swirly drunk, crying sad drunk, crazy break things drunk, angry stabby drunk, joyous I-love-you drunk, silly funny drunk, and a million other kinds.  It all depends on what you're doing, what's going on in your life and who you're with.  My advice is to try it.  Give it a good effort!  LOL.  If you're curious enough to ask, you must feel that you're missing something, so you should try it again to know that it's really not worth it.

Rumtiger -> RE: Getting Drunk (12/3/2007 12:29:57 AM)

all depends what you drink and who your drinking with.

other then that, its not the drunk part that you want...the process is the fun part.

LadyEllen -> RE: Getting Drunk (12/3/2007 12:39:46 AM)

One third of a pitcher of beer
Various sorts of alcohol
Several glasses of wine
A couple of shots of liquor

For an American, you did quite well. You should be proud.

I suggest you obtain a ticket for a week in the UK, or a two week 18-30 vacation with some Brits. Preferably Scots. If you cant do that, then hang around with some Irish people. DO NOT attempt the leap to Finns or Russians, for whom anything less than 50% alcohol isnt booze at all.

I don't drink, never once have and never once will. But about 90% of my job is dealing with drunk college kids. And in one word, I can sum up getting drunk: costly.

In some way, getting drunk always seems to cost you. If you're lucky, it might just be money.

Exactly.
As an aside, I absolutely HATE it when people pretend to be drunk. They take little sips and BAM, they're supposedly gone, and assholes come to replace them.
