Status: offline 		i have a problem, i wish to get used to needle play, i also wish to get a few pircing, my problem is that i have been phobic of needels sine i was a little girl. Do anyone have any idea for how to deal whit that phobia and be able to tolerate needle play?

Status: offline 		when i was little i was terrified of needles. So terrified in fact that when i was 7 and broke my arm they were going to give me a shot in order to reset my arm and i freaked out, begging them to not give me the shot, promising anything including that i wouln't cry not one tear. Both the Dr. and my mom just heaved and sigh and said ok lol. They reset my arm w/o the shot and not one squeak escaped my lips, apparently i did turn white as a ghost though. My point is that i would have endured anything to keep away from needles. Somewhere along the line i learned this little mind over matter power. i can slip into the recesses of my mind and convince myself that i'm tough, i can handle it. i can't explain how i learned to do it but i literally just repeat in my head "i can do this. i can do this. i can handle anything. i'm a strong person". i now have 10 piercings and 4 tattoos. lol now i'm wondering if my masochism started with a reset of a broken arm at 7.

Status: offline 		You just have to face your fears and do it. Piercings are not anything to be scared of.

I do like Emarlds idea of straps!! I guess thats one way to do it. Maybe if you did it that way once, you wouldn't be scared.

Status: offline 		Yes that is what i figured to. Both to get rid of the firght of needels and to get inspiration to diet. I have even considerd buying one bellybutton jewlwery eatch month, keeping them in a special box, so that i can have them and look forward to the time i can wear them.

Status: offline 		well i like belly pircing, i just was thinking i might do a nice thing for my Dom, make it more easy for me to get a cheekup at the doctors, and get the pircing i want in the same training, if i could get used to needels. Killing three birds whit one stone. (Poor birds, i hate that saying.)

That's silly. :) I do plenty I don't like for the partner.

Not getting tattoos for one, and having my nipples played with for another. Hate both. Do 'em anyway.


That said, I have a serious needle phobia too, but I found that tattoos and peircing don't trigger it. THe needles, to me, don't look enough like shot needles, which is my phobia.

For me, -watching- what was happening actually helped a lot, because then the anticipation didnt' kill me.

Status: offline 		I have a nevel peircing, tons of ear peircings, and soon nipple peircings. I cannot have a needle anywhere near my skin. I am phobic of them since birth. Master can bring out a needle and I was cower in the corner crying before its even pointed in my general direction. However, I didnt even flinch getting my navel done. Im sorta strange that way. I can get peirced, I can get blood drawn.. but, I cannot be strapped, bound or even just layed on a bed and have a needle pushed through my skin.. I can't even handle the thought of it. To anyone else, it might be very similar or the same thing, to me and my phobic little mind - there is a world of difference.

Status: offline 		Try experimenting with a relatively painless area for needle play- such as the chest. There are very few nerve endings there, so it makes doing it for the first time a lot easier.

My point was that saying just to not do thing she doesn't want to do kinda negates a large part of authority transfer. What are we submitting to if we refuse to do everything we don't like to do?

Sure there's a point we say no. Nella was pretty clear this -isn't- the point, however. It sounds like something that's seriously icky, but not "oh god, I will not/cannot" I was saying that to say "I won't do that' for the seriously icky stuff kinda removes a large part of the "submitting" thing, for me.

Obviously, I wouldn't say this if Nella had made it clear this was a phobia she had no desire of overcoming, or if it were something life or mental-health threatening. However, since she made it clear she'd eventually like to work up to doing this, and I tried to offer some ways to work up to it.

I'm very similar. If it looks like a needle for a shot, I am -terrified- (including drawing blood) but if it doesn't, I am basically ok.

Status: offline 		I would pose this question in the ask a Master forum instead. Alot of the dominants there are so knowledgable about training and give methods and examples. I don't think they always read this forum. Just look at my thread on painslut training to see all the wonderful responses, it was amazing. I am not sure but I would think the same principles would apply.

PS the slaves and submissives are knowledgeable also but in this instance I think the other forum is better because some of the people there have spent years training, reading and stuyding this type of thing. Dominants being the trainors not the trainee :)

Status: offline 		This is somthing i wish to overcome as well. i have bladder problems, and somthing going on whit my metabolisem, but the last time i tried to get a blood sample taken i was 10 years old, it failed miserably and i have never tried again. The one hole i have in eatch ear i did whit a then wire, i used an entire eveing to wriggel it through my skin becouse i did not deare use a needle. Sure, the fact that my Dom would like to do needle play is part of why i wish to do this, but the most inportant reason is becouse of health reasons, to be able to get a proper health cheek and my vacsines and to get a few pircings i want. i just belived that perhaps doing this in the D/s context, would make it more easy for me to actualy be able to get rid of my phobia.

I've heard of people with phobias of any kind being gradually introduced to things in steps as a way to get over their fears.
Each small step puts you closer to your goal. I would recommend you first just sitting the needle on a table close to you till you get comfortable with it being close, then holding it in your hand till you get comfortable with that, then (like school kids do) take a needle and just barely catch the skin on your fingertip so the needle will be under your skin, but painlessly.
Once you get through these baby steps and are not so fearfull of the needle being around you, I think you'll be more mentally ready to try a real needle insertion in play.
