I had to go with Pink Floyd. (I was also suprised not to see either Wish You Were Here or Comfortably Numb.) I think I spent the majority of 1980 listening to those two Floyd songs along with Childhood's End.

oh tough choice, but I went in with Floyd in the end as I tend to be more mellow lately, but I do like Zepelin too depending on my mood.

No contest. Pink Floyd all the way, "Dark Side of the Moon", Comfortably Numb, and oh I would love to be comforbaly numb again. Pink Floyd was ahead of their times in the 70s.

Tough choice... both bands took blues in a new direction, Zep by reworking old songs, and Floyd with the E-minor slide guitar riffs turned spacy.

Both bands had a played to death anthem, Stairway and Money.

Both fairly prolific and ambitious in their direction, and each managed to cross over from niche audiences to commercial mega-success without drastically changing their sound.

Both much less impressive in various extra-curricular/solo projects.

Pretty much a coin toss, but had to give it to Floyd in the end, if for no other reason than pushing the envelope a bit more.

Absolutely. There are acquaintences and then there are friends. There's a difference. One would go to Nogales and either attempt to bail you out or end up in the cell next to you attempting to do so. The other would laugh about the story of it all with you after it was all said and done.

Those songs are a bit more melancholy for me. My father died that year and those three songs invoked a depth of solace and sorrow within me during that time. They were my comfort. I just wanted to be...comfortably numb. I played them so much I ended up being nicknamed Pink all through HS. Of course the fact that I had pink hair for quite alot of that time didn't hurt either. To this day I can't hear any of the three without tearing up and thinking of my dad.

I had the same thing happen to me with my ex husband and after awhile, I learned to hate Pink Floyd immensely. He would turn up the volume pretty loud, have his beer and stare off into space...thinking he was God. I guess that is why I divorced him.
