Is  it  me  or has  common  courtesy  died?

is it too difficult to  use an  ID name  when addressing  a  submissive in an  opening  letter?

I cannot  begin  to explain the  feeling  that  runs  through me  when I see that lack of  courtesy and  respect.

I may  be a submissive.. but  I am  not YOUR  submissive untill  such  time as  it  is  mutually agreed  on..

thank the   maker  for  delete...

Similarly, your idea of courtesy may not be another's idea of courtesy.

While agreed that it is rather rude to address someone in a familiar tone such as "slut", "cunt", "bitch", etc., all I can say is get used to it and let it roll off your back or your time at CM will be miserable indeed.

I wouldn't open a message with "Hello slut/skank/bitch/whore/cunt/etcetera," but I'd be just as unlikely to start with "Hello duallives65" or whatever the screenname is. It just seems silly to me. So I check profiles, and if there isn't a name there, it's just "Hello," as a greeting.

This is probably post #35 of the week complaining about what people don't like about emails.  We aren't emailing you so your concern/frustration may be shared by a few, but you're preaching to the choir here.  Who cares?  Life has many asses, d/s and vanilla, consider the source and move on.

This is the internet, exactly what gave you the idea that you should expect common courtesy when strangers email you?

Expect no one to share your values, be happily surprised when someone does.

I have found that common courtesy, much like common sense, is not so common.

I find I have much more enjoyable correspondence when I take the time to make first contact.

If you don't like the mail you're getting, you're not writing enough interesting people.

Maybe I should have you write to the men that have opened their email to me with that "greeting / salutation"

My advice, concentrate on what you want, ignore what you don't. Even though you may get some replies that feed into your pet peeves, it only has the power to upset you if you allow it... why are you allowing the perceived disrespect of others to impact you so much?

Courtesy is something I admire and gives the person applying it to their actions towards me extra points, but I find if I expect nothing from internet people, then I am never disappointed or annoyed

Maybe I'm excessively formal but generally I tried to use a persons full Sn when addressing them until I recieved permission(occasionally tacit permission, for example I always sign my posts Ex, so if someone calls me Ex I'm perfectly happy. I encoucorage shotening it). Some people get very upset about even little things with Sn's so I tend to err on the side of caution. Ex

I find it rather fake looking when someone uses direct address, especially a screenname, in a first email. A simple hello would do fine, since if you were speaking ot me face to face thats what youd do. I agree that a first email with things like bitch, slut or even boy are improper... but courtesy doesnt equate the same for all.  The men adn women who start emails that way are looking for partners who like being spoken to that way.. so its a perfect match when they dont offend someone. If you dont like how they talk, youve weeded yourself out of their pool of potentials, and its a win win scenario... you arent what they want and they arent what you want. Delete and move on.

Courtesy is in very short supply whether it be on-line or off. I grew up in a military family in the 50's and 60's and the culture that I was immersed in was big on the little things that make up courtesy. Today I'm pleasantly surpirsed when someone pulls out a chair, holds a door open or actually says "thank you" instead of "no problem".

The e-mail issue is an entirely different discussion. Letter writing is a lost art and the formality of structure that we learned in school has been lost with it. Both business and personal communication has been abbreviated to the point where we often do not even spell things out any more. I do have to admit that is does feel rather odd to start an e-mail to someone you are making a first contact with the greeting, "Dear PigSlaveBitch". "Good morning" just seems more appropriate.
