Aqua,

Perhaps, placing a mark in ink (I don't mean a tat, just something temporary) where you can see it.

A few years ago I had surgery, to have a rod placed in my neck, I was terrified.  I needed a reason to be able to smile.  So, the night prior to the surgery, I drew smiley faces on both my knees.  Why, because the thought of a nurse or doctor seeing them made me smile, in fact I giggled a bit.

It's the little things that get you through the bigger things.

I had that come up a couple of months ago. I wear a collar he has the only key. I ended up at the ER with pneumomia. I was unable to reach him to remove the collar before going. So the X-rays I had to be done with it and because of a flaky test result the CT scan also run with my collar in place. Now thankfully no MRI required because having to figure out how to remove would have been interesting. Now I do know that there are buildings I can not go in without having my collared removed first. I thankfully can avoid them. Realize not just medical can wearing a collar full time can cause problems. Flying and going to government buildings can be troublesome.

DesFIP -> RE: When The Collar Has To Come Off (12/5/2007 11:23:45 AM)

Someone said when it happened to her, and she would have to be without it for a few weeks during frequent testing, she got a velvet ribbon and he sewed it around her neck. No metal but something to touch and feel.

aqua, Daddy agrees with LadyPact.

my FIRST rule is "you protect My Property in all instances, including FROM Me".  if that includes telling him no, then it does (and yes i've had to on one occasion because he would have hurt me..but he didnt know that, and once he had all the information he told me i was absolutely right).

i hate having to not wear my collar and my bracelet.  i had to go nearly a week without the collar because my neck was irritated so badly just recently, and i was miserable.  again, i was told i was protecting Daddy's property by not wearing it.   i do not remove it, i just am not wearing it.  HUGE difference in my mind.

we're discussing getting an eternity collar (bracelet).  chance is that eventually we will.  and again, i'll have the allen wrench needed to take it off my wrist, and again i'd hate taking it off but would for reason of great necessity.

his opinion is that "no matter if you're wearing that symbol or not, you cannot remove the marks on your heart which mark you as Mine".

Ugh. I haven't even thought of that. Now that you mention it, I think if you are put in jail, even overnight, you have to remove all jewelry. I kinda doubt they would wait for someone to arrive with the key either.

I'm a jeweler. I make things breakaway whenever possible. I've seen a photo of what can happen when a ring gets caught. (look up ring avulsion and don't say I didn't warn you.) Suffice it to say I don't want that happening to the head of anyone I like.

As some know and some don't, I'm going to be having a surgery in a few weeks (assuming the insurance company doesn't cancel at the last minute... again, and assuming I don't back out, which I don't think will happen). For this, I have instructions to wear no metal whatsoever. No earrings, no promise ring, no wedding ring, no nothing. This is fine for me, I don't wear anything that can't be removed easily. I'm not happy about it, but I suppose I can trust someone else to hold onto the ring Valyraen gave me for a few hours. While not collared myself, I am aware of a definite fondness for permanent collars, bells and other things in the community. From my understanding, these items are usually made of metal. So I'm curious: What do you do when you have a permanent collar (or anything else you wear that is designed to be permanent) and it simply has to be removed, for surgery or otherwise? Thanks for reading,Aqua

The permanent collar that my Master has given me is silver with a pendent of a nude woman kneeling.

I have removed the collar, with Master's permission, several times for situations such as work, where it my not be apropreate, or sports... I'd rather not wear my collar then looses it at the bottom of a lake.

The way Master and I think of a permanent collar isn't so much a physical thing... the thing it's self is nice, but it's more of a permanent commitment to me that he has made and vise versa.

With out the physical collar the commitment is still there.

So, I'd say that removing of the physical collar is no big deal, as long s I have permission from Master to do so.

Plus, when it comes time to put the collar back on, Master usually likes to be the one to do it... so it's all good ;)

I would think you just take off the objects and leave them at home while you are having your procedure.  It seem pretty simple to me.

Of course this is probably why you will remain the collarless, headless bitch from Hell.

How dare you resort to logic when so many are confused by the aspect that if push comes to shove ya just take the fucking thing off?  It seems elementary that if you had to take part in some sort of an activity that was necessary and that jewelry or a collar would not be allowed that you would just remove the fucker.

But nooooooo.....Why would anyone even ask such a question?....I'm guessing that in actuality I would like my sub to perish then remove my collar....It would make me know that she cared so much that she made the ultimate sacrifice.

People are dumb.

Have I ever mentioned before that women who wear collars look like ass?

Ask permission to remove it and explain why I need to do so.  Most likely it will be granted and then I put it back on as soon as I can.

I have a ring and a necklace that I wear.  I have set times when the ring is allowed to be removed (at the gym is one) and then anytime that I think I might do something that could damage it I have the discression to remove it.  Usually, I will ask first.

I feel naked without either one, but there is little emotional angst in having to take them off because of something specific.

luna has to deliver by c-section sometime before christmas.  she wears a turian steel collar that locks with an allen screw.  its come off twice  in 2 years once when luna had to go to court and once so Master could give it back to her last week with its new meaning attatched  (going from submissive to TPE slave) luna cries so horribly when it comes off.  so Master said that when its time for luna's c-section he'll draw his crest on her left hip with a marker and that will be her collar.  the doctor said as soon as luna is awake from surgery and sitting upright she can have her collar back on.  (we have a GREAT doctor who knows about our lifestyle!!!!)  Ask your doctor how long after you wake up you have to wait to have your collar back on!!!  luna was surprised how soon they said she could have it back.

I understand about how its more difficult because if the mental symbolism of it makes it very difficult to take it off. I'm very sentimental myself so its one of those "the-mental-is-confirmed-by-the-physical" Types of things...
But if the worry is the Master, then the Master would understand. He is in love with the submissive...not the collar. The submissive comes first =]

I think it's a good lesson in priorities and values- to cherish the connection, not the physical tangibles more.

Sinergy -> RE: When The Collar Has To Come Off (12/5/2007 6:02:32 PM)

It seems to me in this case that perhaps a workable solution would be to have the Master/Mistress take off the metal collar and take the submissive in to a tattoist for a Henna collar tattoo...

Or tie a leather band around the neck.

Or.

As was pointed out by Mnottertail, screwing around with jewelry in such a way that one endangers the life or health of the slave or submissive is rather idiotic.

as to the rest of your question i have to file that under m....making mountains out of mole hills ...a collarme file that grows larger with each passing day.

life is way too short ...ya know?

Ooo... that really appeals to me. I love having Henna work done.

For mine: health and safety come before collars. One of thier 'Prime Directives' is to keep themselves fit for service. If removing their collar is something they have to do in order to follow this, they should do so.

But, put it back on as soon as you can!

ownedgirlie -> RE: When The Collar Has To Come Off (12/6/2007 1:36:33 AM)

Best wishes for your surgery, Aquatic.

My collar is removeable, but I have often wondered about the permanently fixated ones as well.  Mine was put on me with the instructions to never remove it unless for medical reasons or to clean it.  So I do not need to ask him permission to remove it in times of unexpected medical complications.

When I had surgery last summer, I removed it just before going in.  I gave it to my mother to put in my purse that she was holding for me.  As soon as I awoke, I asked for it back, and she put it around my neck.  Easy peasy.

liljoy -> RE: When The Collar Has To Come Off (12/6/2007 2:47:42 AM)

i for one am glad she asked the question. i am not yet collared but we have discussed what type of collar i will wear when i am. one that we were looking at was a locking collar that i would not easily be able to remove myself. i work in the medical field and though not often i will have to sometimes go to MRI. so we may have to alter our thoughts on the type of collar i'll wear as well as the piercings Master has in mind.

i think she was asking more about  the how to remove the hard to remove than how to deal with it emotionally

Owner4SexSlave -> RE: When The Collar Has To Come Off (12/6/2007 4:20:42 AM)

My advice: Take a deep breath, count to 10 exhaul, repeat process.. until feeling relaxed.  Apply "common sense" to what's under the forehead, meditate, reflect... get a grip on reality and what needs to be done. DO IT or HAVE IT DONE.

petpete -> RE: When The Collar Has To Come Off (12/6/2007 4:24:25 AM)

i will have to strongly agree with most members advice!!! After all you wont be any good to anyone if you are defective.. lol
