Has anyone else noticed that there are never any parents around? What the hell is up with this? Why is an 8 year old constantly taking care of a three year old? She feeds him, bathes him...wheres the mother????

Are rabbits more responsible than people??

Even with the additional info, I still have no clue who, or what, you're writing about.

Just call me the clueless one...

I TOTALLY agree!!!! I used to be a nanny and the kid LOVED the show. The one time she was trying to get him to go to bed and had to help him change his pjs and he kept spilling things and she kept having to find him different pjs.  I too found it disturbing.  Poor Ruby.  I think it was a big deal to me because I was the oldest and I had to always take care of my sister and brothers.. weird.. who knows...

I think also...it could be subliminal...the new age of parents arent parents, they are...incubators...they pawn kids off on who ever. Its rare to see a parent that actually 24/7 takes care of their kids. Yeah, we have work and all that, but....Its not Ward and June any more.

My kids father pawns them off on his mom when its his time to have them. Or he lets My 11 year old take care of as many as 5 kids...hence why he doesnt see them any more.

I think Ruby and Dora are training video's for kids...so they can take care of themselves.

Eight years in rabbit years is practically old age, isn't it?

My son watches the show as well.

Wow, maybe you need to meet different people.  Of my friends (and myself) that have UMs, they ARE taken care of by the parental units.  The same with my sister.

And BTW, it was only MAYBE about 1% of homes (likely less) that were similar to Ward and June.

I'm so old my son used to read the books before the show ever came out. But I think it's like fairy tales, it's always the evil stepmother, because real mothers are good. Real mothers wouldn't let Max get into the situations that he does.

However, I do remember asking the 8 year old to play with the four year old while I took a shower and coming out to discover she wandered into her room to play with Barbie's while he opened up the lower cabinet that holds baking supplies. It's amazing how much of a mess they can make at that age inside of 20 minutes. And after commercials the average half hour tv show runs for 22 minutes.

I dunno...is it better to have no parents, like Max and Ruby....or to be like poor little Hansel and Gretel?  They had parents, but (if memory serves me correctly) because they could not feed the kids, the mother isnisted they be left in the forest to fend for themselves!    And Shrek was concerned about being an Ogre of a Father!!!  (Yes, I spend wayyyy to much time watching my UM's TV shows!)

omg, yesterday, I asked the 8yo to watch the 2yo just long enough for me to walk out the back door and throw a load of laundry in the washer.......I came back in to an 8yo totally engrossed in a spiderman comic book and the 2yo pouring a bottle of honey accross the living room floor and coffee table.

there is no way in hell id leave the 8yo in charge for an entire day and bath and bedtime too!!

*L*  Oh ghita...I can SO picture that!  What a mess!  I have a 12 y/o and a 2 y/o- and would not even leave the 12 y/o in charge for an ENTIRE day...or honey on the floor would likely be the least of my problems!  Just not quite mature and focused enough at that age; and the 2 y/o gets into ~everything~......
