"They call me Tater Salad"

If you call yourself a "slave" and truly wonder if you have "rights", then don't worry about yourself being a slave any longer. It's why I've seen a whole lotta women with varying degrees of submissiveness but haven't seen an actual slave yet (though I would like to think that was because I didn't know such women well enough, and not that they don't exist). If you think you even have the right to a contract or to "be released" or refuse to do as told, and therefore be uncollared, you have no business playing in M/s relationships. The last right before someone becomes a slave is who their master will be, who they will become the property of, and such decisions get made far too frivolously. It requires implicit and explicit trust.

This is the real heart of M/s, it's not about control or power exchange, it's about trust, and the master being the center of your world. I firmly believe that a D/s relationship can eventually transform into an M/s one with time and sufficient trust and the right perspective.

Edit: corrected for semmantic accuracy *smirk*

Lashra -> RE: Slave rights (12/12/2007 8:38:11 AM)

As far as I am concerned they have the right to: food, clothing, shelter, medical care, they can leave a relationship, protect themselves and their offspring, to communicate their thoughts, feelings etc. in a respectful way, to have relationships with family/friends. Other then that its all what they negotiate. I tell people do not follow any books/chatroom advice, design your relationship around what you need as a person to be happy and fulfilled.

Quite right. That's why I've gone to calling my slaves enemy combatants. Bingo. No rights of any kind. Brilliant.

Is this your nice way of saying that an M/s relationship is more spiritual than a D/s relationship?  What happens during the transformation process?

Does a slave have rights?

Yes - the right to choose who to serve - after that - it's up to the Owner.

Vanatru -> RE: Slave rights (12/12/2007 6:52:56 PM)

*laughs* you guys always hit me outa left field. Too funny. Why do you care unless you feel some need to measure up? *shrug* Spiritual? Where did that come from?

No, different things for different people. Like I said, it CAN occur as a development from a D/s relationship. Some do this purposely, building trust, expanding limits, some I've seen have come to it because they built trust and expanded limits. That doesn't mean it's a natural conclusion or that some people aren't happy being D/s sheesh. Heck the difference between D/s and M/s is a spectrum, not a duality. ...but then, you knew that already, right?

Measure up. Hmmm.

As for where her comment came from. I'll take a stab.

Your assumption that the only way to have a M/s relationship is to first have a D/s relationship.
I believe your exact words were

According to this, you are saying that you can not have a M/s relationship without first having a D/s relationship; because the D/s must 'transform' into the M/s.

Of course; how you define D/s and M/s is the key. For some, labels such as those mean nothing at all. For them; its simply a ....relationship. For them; there is no magical transformation that happens with a deeping of trust. Why? Because the trust was already there.

Well thank you "One and only twue, wise judge of all that is M/s"[:'(].  Just because I have enough sense to know that I am not a slave by the dictionary definition(ie - I wasn't kidnapped, sold into slavery, and am here against my will) that doesn't mean I am "playing in M/s" by any means.  I don't suffer any delusions of being what a real, involuntary slave is.  That doesn't mean my life and relationship in voluntary servitude to my Master is playing.  How arrogant.  "Voluntary servitude."  It's a term.  Look it up.  Jack Rinella wrote an excellent book on the subject..................luci
BTW - Why does wisteria call you "master" if she isn't a slave?  Who are you master of?  A non-slave?  Makes no sense to me whatsoever.  Perhaps she should simply call you her "dom" if she isn't your slave.  Most curious............

I don't know.  I don't have any insecurities about my servitude to Master.  I tend to think those who try to dictate to others just what they should and should not be/do to qualify as this or that are the ones with all the insecurity.  Just my take though......luci
