Hubby and I have been playing together for 11 years. His first purchase which was right before he met me, were a riding crop and nipple clamps.

When we found each other, we began exploring kink, and I'll never forget the first time we went to a sex shop together and we bought our first toys together. My mind was in overdrive, my heart was racing, and I was afraid to tell him what I'd want, and I'm sure he was hesitant too...I think we were afraid we'd freak each other out.

Hubby settled on a cheesy little collar with a leash, both with panic release clasps. The collar had a plastic silver-tone heart with a red sticker that said "I belong to". The leash got used quite a bit, and eventually wore out. It got thrown away at some point, but to this day, neither one of us can bring ourselves to get rid of that silly little collar. It was replaced long ago with a beautiful thick black leather collar lined with red. It has heavy rings and is lockable...no panic release clasp. I have wonderful matching ankle and wrist cuffs. He gave these to me as gift. Attached to the collar is a heart shaped pet ID tag that has "gorgeous" engraved on it and his name as the owner.

I just don't think we'll ever get rid of that first collar. The neoprene and Velcro cuffs are gone, the nipple clamps lost their bite and were replaced, but that collar is just too sentimental to let go.

Anyone else feel this way about a favorite toy?

the flogger he's been packing around for eight or so years; i bought it in mexico and it's whops one hell of a sting! mostly though, the cane that i also bought him eight or so years ago; i was terrified of canes and i hand-selected and bought him one; offering it to him as a show of my trust and surrender...

sappy, yet true, and i still get them used on me to this very day!

oh, and did i mention that we're not a couple anymore?!

Dear gorgeous1, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Although I do not consider a 'collar' as a 'toy' but, much more as a symbol; it will always hold value and memories.  My sentimental items will be put in a special box to where there will be meaning as well as a place of honor.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Oh, yes, I agree wholeheartedly that a collar is not a toy, but that first one was a "toy". Neither of us realized the significance of it when we bought it, and it took a few years for us to really delve into what a collar meant. I have a collar that I wear 24/7 and then my service collar that I wear when we play. When hubby gave me the service collar, it was a very special evening!

Yes, I agree. Memories are romantic. We are very happy for your success as a couple.
Wishing you both many more years of joy!

I get the feeling thats how its going to be with our flogger and Master/Daddy's riding crop. [:)]

DarkDaddyZ -> RE: Sentimental Toys (12/6/2007 3:13:53 PM)

I have had articles presented to me by people that are close and important to me (like a African cane given to me by The Sanctuary) and even a leather vest but like Lady Hugs stated those are symbols.
I did receive 2 floggers from 2 people that are very sentimental to me that I've kept though I no longer use.  I have a suede flogger with my name engraved on it and a flogger made for my out of bike tire.  I wish I could use that still though but it's not in good condition anymore.

I still have the first toy i gave to Master as a gift. It has since broke but it is packed away with some other things i hold dear. There are a lot of things I dont think I could get rid of.

Grlwithboy -> RE: Sentimental Toys (12/6/2007 7:36:09 PM)

Not a toy, a pair of shoes, the first ones I'd ever had worshipped. I don't think I'll ever get rid of those. The relationship was a bust, it was a long time ago, but man, THAT was when I knew what was what for me.

MasterIconoclast -> RE: Sentimental Toys (12/7/2007 3:06:43 AM)

I have a giant gorean slave whip with my scene name braided into the handle by leather craffolks who no longer cutom make whips.  That was gifted to a Domina friend who is also a toy fetishist.

Then there is also the violet wand kit that ws my trademark.  I'd done presentations with them.  I also made many of the toys and it took years to complie it but it's the glowing violet sword and pair of knives that will hurt to part with.

Sentimental but everything needs to go.
