I don't necessarily think the issue is here. It is the internet. Too many people can hide whom they are here. They use it to their advantage. Read the board's here. Many are not really serious. Just the other day we had a thread regarding trust. I checked a person out to be sure it was who they were claiming to be. I was bashed for that. Yet the person whom I checked out thanked me for doing so. For looking out for his back.

Those who bashed me...well if you really don't want to know whom you are speaking to or you are going to assume all are liars and fakes well, you kind of get what you are yourself.
Does that make sense? Here or on any other board's you can lurk. You can make a good assessment of who is real vs the fakes.
Use your best judgement beyond that.

What is Real and what is Fake to you?

I agree wholeheartedly. The level of sincerity here is no better or worse than elsewhere on the internet. Generally speaking, if you're anywhere online, you'll find more fakes than you will sincere people.

What amazes me the most about this unfortunate fact of cyber-life is the vast number of people who apparently have so little of value going on in their lives, that they endeavor to play these elaborate games of fakery.

Somebody please explain to me what the perceived payoff is for these poor souls who invest so much time and energy towards fakery. I don't understand it.

Hi all

I have faced the probelm and fixed it by having them voice verfiy thru yahoo..costs nothing and the call cant be traced and it allows both parties to see the gender they are speaking to. it is easy to do with a mic which comes with almost every pc or cost at the most like 5 bucks. So it handles alot of those men posers.

It also allows you both a bit of comfort as the men cant fake the voice and are easy to tell when they make 40 excuses why they cant chat on yahoo...makes your life alot easier on finding the one you seek.

Yay, another real vs. fake thread. We've only done this about fifteen times.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Fakes or real (8/15/2005 10:06:41 PM)

Actually unless you're speaking face to face IN REAL LIFE not online it's easy to fake being a man or woman speaking on yim. I'm a female but I could tell you I am a younge man with a soft silky voice and have my mate speak to you. You'd never know you'd been decived less I screwed up somehow.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Fakes or real (8/16/2005 4:23:27 AM)

This site is like anyplace else, people are most certainly going to lie and cheat. ho hum. If you figure out that they are, boot them in the ass for me.

Why do people pose as something they are not? Why do capable and intelligent people spend so much time writing computer viruses when they could be using their talents to improve progams (for $$ no less)? Because for some reason, they get off on it. I don't understand it either as it wouldn't do a thing for me and my time is way too valuable to waste but for some, I suppose they don't have any interests outside of cyber tom foolery. No other hobbies, interests or life.

pinkpleasures -> RE: Fakes or real (8/19/2005 2:23:21 PM)

i There's no way of knowing for certain, but i know i spot fakes better now than when i 1st came on-site.

FYI, my frame of reference is this:

Fake: wanna-bes (who could be anyone, any sex) and men who are looking for a f**k. For myself i also add married men who lie and claim to be single -- younger women may not have this problem as much as i do.

Real: Looks (profile), talks, and behaves like a real Dom insofar as i can tell. The inability to see Him in real life means i can never be sure until/unless we actually meet.

i'd say my bowling score on spotting fakes was about 75. But that's better than when i first joined the site and believed every Man who emailed me was a Dom.

LOL...pinkpleasures
