I am stating that was my impression when reading some of the articles there, perhaps my memory is shaky.. but I do remember some of the topics about how dominants are supposed to be, and I remember reading about training Jade had before she ever was involved with a dominant... it sounded almost Old Guard-like to me.

Am I not correct that they had their own defintions of what slaves were, bottoms, etc?

I also remember distinctly that there were some articles about honor, integrity, and that this is associated with domliness... and to be honest... everytime I read these sorts of notions I think of Castle Realm... because some dominants are not honorable and do not have integrity... and in that they seemed a little unicornish to me, and yes I think that "honor" stuff kinda set forth false expectations.. that is only my opinion

Edited to add... I believe "submission as a gift" is a Castle Realm thing too

I always took the "honor" part as a bleed-over from their involvement in the SCA.

It was a bit weird, to be reading stuff about a person as if it was happening at that moment, or in the recent past, when in fact you might be reading it after Jade's passing.  Probably just my own personal issues though.

I did not even know she had died when I began reading that site... and I felt sad that she died so young and that her master must have grieved her considerably.

I thought Castle Realm went under a long time ago.

There was a point, you could read the older articles online, but I could
never find anything current.
This was a few years ago.

CastleRealm wasn't perfect but it was a decent place to point a complete newb looking to see that she wasn't alone in her desires. It wasn't for everybody, S/M seemed to get short shrift, and may have been too romantic for some people but really so what, it was about their relationship primarily.

Personally I wouldn't bash something that gave so much to this community even if what it advocated/encouraged isn't exactly your vision of the perfect bdsm relationship.

I saw nothing "Unicornish" or "Fantasy Ridden" about Castle Realm. I saw 2 decent people sharing their real-life life-style, and experiences. An life-style that not many of us have the opportunity to experience inside a real relationship. I've been interested in BDSM for over 10 years (not a long time I know), but not a newbie either, and Castle Realm was a very big help to me and many other people. It provided a safe place to learn, and to help gain an understanding of oneself and this life-style. It was a respectible place, set up by quality people, and has always been held in high esteem by everyone that I've known in this lifestyle. This thread is the very first time I've heard anyone, much less, so many people put it down & frankly I'm very surprised by the negativity towards Castle Realm and what it represented, in many of these comments. Very, very surprised.

In Christ,
Romanticspice
