The previous posters have all spoken so well... it is all that and more!
All my life, i have chewed my fingernails. It was a bad habit that i have tried to break over and over again, with no success. After three months of being with my Master, i looked down a couple of weeks ago to find... wow!! i have fingernails! i had stopped gnawing on them without realizing it. This habit, born of nervousness and anxiety, was broken through the security and safety i feel in my relationship with Him.
Submitting to Him, becoming His, was a giant step for me and one i felt compelled to take. The benefits? Aside from the mind-blowing sex and that feeling of security? There is someone who cares about me, my physical well-being, my emotional balance, someone who demands that i take care of His property even as i run around taking care of everyone else -- this is totally new to me, to be valued like that. i get a feeling of peace and comfort from that like you wouldn't believe.
i don't believe this feeling is necessarily related to the fact that i am a slave, but true of most relationships based on trust and honesty. i became His slave rather than His sub because within our relationship that meant tighter controls, more structure and a deeper level of trust. YMMV of course.
