dcnovice -> Golden Compass: What's Your Daemon (Soul Animal)? (12/8/2007 8:13:14 PM)

Friends ---

Just saw The Golden Compass and have been musing about what my daemon (animal that represents my soul) would be. I'm pretty sure it would be an elephant, though I recognize that may not be the most practical choice.

I'm curious to know what daemons other CM folk think or hope they would have. Pick the animal that you feel best represents you, regardless of the practicalities.

Cheers,

DC

I saw the movie last night, I thought it kidna sucked, I hope the next one or two are better or at least the books are.  I will reserve judgement for the moment until I see another movie or at least read the books.  I was thinking about what my deamon would be, I was thinking a black panther.  Elusive, cunning, mysterious.

I think mine would be a cat, possibly a lynx..............I liked the 1st 2 but the 3rd almost seemed to be a completely different series.  And I hated the ending.  Haven't seen the movie yet, will have to wait til after the holidays.

I forgot to mention that folks are welcome to share why they think a particular animal represents them. For me, it's that elephants are huge, oddly shaped, smart, social, capable of both gentleness and brute force, vulnerable, and have amazing memories.

Now my cats are a little peeved that I didn't say they'd be my daemons!

Red Wolves (Canis rufus) are shy and wary creatures. They prefer to hunt alone or in small family groups; pack sizes are smaller than those of their grey cousins, consisting often of one adult pair and their offspring.  As in other canids pair-bonding is strong and Red Wolves mate for life.

The gray wolf (Canis lupus), also known as the timber wolf or, simply, wolf, is a mammal of the order Carnivora. The gray wolf is the largest member of the family Canidae and also the most well known of wolves. Wolves are actually naturally cautious and will almost always flee from humans, perhaps only carefully approaching a person out of curiosity.

For decades, the Red Wolf has been indistinguishable genetically from either the Gray Wolf or the Coyote. The Red Wolf breeds with both species and may again be in peril as contact with other species in the wild resumes.

Strangely enough, I am descended from Northeastern and Southeastern Native American nations, and the family animal for both branches is the wolf.  My personal animal is the red wolf.

Mine would be a fire-breathing dragon by the name of Typhon.  It represents limitless strength, intimidation, and no fear.  There is only one who is strong enough to rule over him and he happily bows down to her and her strength.  He serves her with every fiber of his being and would give his last fiery breath to protect her.  Yet, he backs down to no one.  He is extremely loyal and devoted to his ruler and very protective of her.  He possesses an uncontrolable rage that she manages to keep under reigns.

Besides, it's never good to meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup![:D]

Good luck trying to get that golden compass of yours pointing to north. Unless it is some new gold/iron alloy which I very much doubt.

Lioness, fearless, heart filled with compassion. Yet if somone steps on my tail they feel that this little kitty has claws. I've always been told I have catlike chacteristics, especially my eyes. A feline yet I can stop Typhon in his tracks with a mere glance.
I've seen previews of the movie, the more previews I see the more I want to see the movie!

The bald eagle. Blessed with the gift of flight to soar high above his world, fearless predator, at the top of his food chain.

(One look at my profile and you'll understand why I identify with the name, too!) [sm=biggrin.gif]

I used to think I was some sort of cat, but I came to the realization that my daemon would definitely be a ferret. Playful, sometimes clutzy, but with high energy and boundless love. Also, if you've ever crossed a ferret, you will know how ferocious they can be. When they play with their friends, it also looks pretty evil, and you can see many ferrets are in BDSM friendships with their housemates. [:D]

I would think A wyvern, not quite a big bad dragon, but still dangerous in its own right. Smart as a whip, and does what it feels like. ^.~
