Owner4SexSlave -> Impact Play and Pneumothoraxes (12/9/2007 6:45:38 AM)

I've been pretty out in the open about my Masochistic streak, even my deep love of floggers.

There are times when I'm in high gear Maso mode.  A few years back I had a Pneumothorax of the right lung.  I've had corrective surgery for it, where the air pocket was cut out, and have all these wonderful titium staples in place.

Needless to say, all the painful experiences of having my lung drop twice and the surgery and every thing, as greatly increased my pain tolerence and even my Maso streak.

I still remember the night when my lung first collapsed.  Even though it was labeled as a Spontaneous Pneumothorax, I question if it happened due to self impact play of sorts.   Earlier that night I had hit myself in my upper chest, during a coughing fit from having water go down the wrong tube while drinking it.   I have this habit of hitting myself when I'm in the middle of having sneezing fits and etc..  Even in moments when I am experiencing pain I will engage in self impact play.  Well, it's not really play per se.

The Doctor asked me if I had been in an auto accidents or something similar, because the force of impact can cause an air pockets in the top of the lungs to pop.  Sort of like Bubble wrap popping.   Not eveybody has these pockets of air sitting on top of their lungs.   They often form naturally in many people who are tall and slender, at least this is what the Doctor(s) explained to me.

Anyways, how many people have experience or known of somebody who's had a Pneumothorax from Impact play?  I curious about deep thudding flogging of the upper back, or even chest areas.   For years I have been hitting myself on my chest in this area, never had my lung collapse.

Perhaps, it really was a Spontaneous Pneumothorax, perhaps it was not.   This has been kind of messing with my mind a little. When I think about being flogged or flogging somebody now.  Even more so when somebody mentions how much they love heavy thudding flogging.

Does anybody have an experiences or thoughts to share on this subject?

My lung never collapsed when I was flogged and I've never had anybody's lung collapse from being flogged, however I do find these thoughts in my mind more now.

People who suffer spontaneous pneumothorax are prone to having them repeat in the future.  In someone prone to this as little as a blow to the chest or bumping into something can cause the collapse.

.Yes, it was expalined like this when my um was going through spontaneous pneumothorax, in both lungs.  I'm not familar with the procedure you had although I do know that a pleurodesis procedure is a permanent repair that will prevent recurrence.  It is a painful experience.

I had Pleurodesis along with the staples done to me.  The kicker was I was supposed to 3-4 days recovery in the hospital before going home.  I was there for 21 days.   Another patient that went through the same procedure was there for 17 days, in fact we were in the same room together.  The real bitch was when they shoved a small small chest tube in me from high up on my chest.   That was fucking painful as hell, and they were trying to cut my dosage of Demerol down so I would not turn into a Demerol Junkie.   Still have the beautiful X on my chest where they shoved the tube inside of me.   All I need now is a circle carved around it to have the X-Men logo scared into me.  LOL...  Talk about branding.

My lung collapsed twice, the first time was freaky cause I did not know what was going on.  Hurt like Hell though.. calmly explained what was going on at the ER desk.   The very mention of chest pain, they rushed me back in no time flat.  The prodecure was simple and not very painful the first time.

The Second time was a bitch though, they only numbed the area they were cutting into to insert the tube.   When I was told to take a deep breath and cough!  Oh yeah!  Felt like a shut gun blast right to the chest...  Seems like somebody overlooked giving me something for that pain.   They were really amazed at how well I took the pain though.. but I tell you, I think I found sub-space Nirvana in 20 second flat...  think my mind literally left my body.

I made joke with them in the ER about being Masochistic anyways,  I don't think they took me all too serious.

After the corrective surgery, it was still in a lot of pain.. and the joys of nerve damage from being cut into.  Some of the damage has healed now.  But there is a section that runs from my back around my rib cage and under my Man Boob that has that strange nerve damage tingling sensation.  Needless to say, even some on/off again pain since the procedure.

Tell you want, it makes being burned by a cigerette feel pretty tame and mild compared to what I've been through.

I know it's awful.  My son went through two pleurodesis procedures in the span of 4 months.  I'm certain that he was having lung collapses that I didn't know about.  He just seemed sick and tired a lot.  Our family doctor referred us to a pulmonologist and it all became clear quickly, at which point we were told this had probably been going on for a while.  He went in for a corrective procedure out-patient, that didn't work, and he was admitted and the first pleurodesis was done the next day, as he was in a lot of pain.  We were told by the pulmo and surgeon that there was no doubt he'd blow out the other lung and be back within 6 months.  It was 4 months later.  He is tall and very thin, classic body build for this type of problem.  His second surgery was much smoother because he wasn't as sick leading up to it and knew what to expect.  He's doing fine, now like it never happened.  This stuff makes you tough.
