Arrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh, yeah. Me too. I didn't like that part. I felt bad for the kid. I do think it's cool they have a psychologist on "staff" - I think TAPS would benefit from that as well.

They did have a deoologist they brought in on occassion, like when they went to that castle in Ireland.  If it weren't for the guys on TAPS i would get bored of it. They are so likeable and each time i just hope somethings will show up. Paranormal has more of an effect as far as being "scary", they have more access to paranormal professionals i suppose because they are linked to the university??

It's the technical aspects that collect the hard evidence, which is what I need to be convinced. "Paranormal" is way to sensationalistic for my tastes.

What's interesting, though, is that with all these kinds of shows, the anecdotal "evidence" is always more incredible then what is actually found. This is more noticable with TAPS, where they start the show with fantastic tales of full-body apparitions, etc.... but what do they end up capturing? "Hey! Did you see that flitting shadow?? Did you hear that?"

Status: offline 		Yes they do that a lot on TAPS.  But they did show what i felt was their best piece of evidence when they began their show, the episode where the chair in the attic moved.  You saw actual footage of it.  No other enterance and no one had been up there, according to the TAPS staff - nothing to debunk it in other words.

The funniest clip was when the two guys were running away like two sissies scared shitless. The head guys were pissed and said how embarasssing it was for them to do that, they got chewed out lol.

Status: offline 		I liked the one in the attic, velvet. Jay was up in the attic and Grant was at the bottom of the stairs, and the bathroom water tap turned on by itself. And the one at the reverend's house at which they caught some noises, etc.; and as they were doing the reveal, there was a big bang crash bam! in the kitchen. There was no one in there and nothing was out of place when they ran to see what it was. I swear to god though, if a stupid doll comes to life on one of those shows, I'm never watching it again.

Edited to add: I also loved the one shot at the "new" house built on the old Manson site. That one was freaky.

The inverted cross was originally known as St Peter's Cross.  Supposedly,  Peter was martyred by being crucified upside down.  The inverted cross became a symbol of Peter's humility and his belief that he was unworthy to die in the same way as his Master.

I often wonder if Saint Peter winces everytime a satanworshipper or a christian decrees that his cross is labeled as satanic.  And I love exploding the feeble minded when I inform them that the inverted cross wasn't seen as blasphemous until that dickhead Crowley and his "successor" LaVey started proclaiming that it was such.  Yeah sheep,  way to feed the egos of those jackasses.

*shrug*  Just an explaination that was given to me on several occasions by different people.  And I'm neither a fundie christian, nor do I worship the devil.  I might be a twit, though....I'll have to ask Muttling.  Razor, go drink some of your own cum...you'll feel better.

Status: offline 		Yanno... even though I'm a skeptic about things like this, sometimes it seems like the current ghosthunting rage takes all the fun out of the supernatural, lol. Being a bit of an amateur local folklorist, one of my favorite pastimes is to seek out my area's creepiest spots and get scared silly! Who else thinks it's fun to get creeped out? People that actively go out to either validate or debunk these stories are missing the point, imo. I really don't care whether these tales are true or not... it's the stuff behind them that's fascinating. The more gruesome, the better. =)

And one doesn't have to actively believe in ghosts to enjoy poking around in dark cemetaries or haunted houses. Here in Ohio, we have a bunch of "Crybaby Bridges" ... you park on a bridge on a certain night, turn your lights off, and you can hear a baby cry underneath. Some versions claim it's because a mother was careless and let her baby fall off. Other versions say the mother got pregnant out of wedlock so she wanted to get rid of her disgrace. I'm interested to see if these legends are more widespread, or if they're particular to Ohio. So.... anybody have a Crybaby Bridge in their state? =)

Or, if you have any other spooky local-type stuff, let's here it. ;)

The Amazing Randi is a professional stage magician who debunked a lot of faith healer type con artists, and received a MacArthur grant for that. His James Randi Educational Foundation offers a 1 million dollar prize (already held in escrow) to supernatural claims that pass a test that both the claimant and other researchers agree upon.

The test is pretty much to rule out trickery. That leaves open the possibility of unexplained stuff being real, but so far no successful claimants.

I was randomly flipping channels last night and stumbed across "Ghost Adventures." Did anyone else see it? I wasn't expecting much, didn't think a lot of the "orbs" (looked like dust to me, most of it) but there was a definite twist, and it's always cool to see two ghost hunters so scared that they break out of a building they're investigating by jumping to the ground from a fire escape two stories up.

Status: offline 		No i have not seen that show, but i did see another episode of Paranormal and it appears they are definately going for the scare tactic effect - the way they string eveyone along with the demon who is suppossedly following the host everywhere he goes and they mention an eventual showdown - that turned me off.   

That show you mentioned sounded funny - ghost hunters finding something then jumping off a fire escape out of fear - how embaressing lol.

Status: offline 		I have yet to see a ghost, a UFO, or a monster.  I want to see one, I really do.  It would make the world so much more interesting.  I have been scared shitless on more than one occassion, but it was never a paranormal experience.  When I was about 19, some friends and I decided to visit a local place that was supposedly haunted.  It had been a loony bin at one time, but was abandoned.  We showed up there and saw nothing but an old building that had been heavily decorated with graffiti.  We proceeded to smoke a few joints to get our courage up *LOL*, then we walked into the place.  We did see something scary.  When we walked in, we discovered a group of bats inside.  They weren't happy about being disturbed.  It scared the shit out of us, but it wasn't other worldly.  The next spooky incident occurred when we ventured further around the property.  In the back of this place, we saw a mound that looked like trash.  We went to investigate.  It was a fucking pile of dead dogs!  Some redneck had apparently been doing some animal control, and used the abandoned property as a dumping ground.  It scared the shit out of us.  But again, nothing from the next dimension.

Status: offline 		It's called Paranormal and i believe it's on A&E at 10 pm.  On Wednesdays - but they re run it also another time during the week.

Very interesting about the little boy.  I hope he's okay, dealing with that kind of perception.
 
I can think of a man who says he had a nightmarish childhood, because of such visions.  It was because of other people's reaction to it.
