Does anyone have opinions on the Mitchell Report ,and the huge list of players involved with taking performance enhancing drugs?

It's not surprising but is still disheartening. I didn't see whether Bud Selig said he would go after the players who are still actively playing, or give them a pass as Mitchell suggested.
Roger Clemens was rumored for years to have used steriods, but Andy Pettite, Eric Gagne, Paul Lo Duca?
And if you go after the players, you have to go after the executives that knew but did nothing to stop it. Quite a mess.

I am watching the coverage now.
I think it is easier to list the people not on performance
enhancing drugs at this point!

Must be disheartening to die hard fans, and what do the young, future
baseball players think?

Yeah...I do. This is the ''shitiest'' group of politicians ever assembled anywhere in the history of man.

I find it incredulous that they have to practically be kicked in the crack of their asses to look into a whole industry that surrounds the manufacture/distribution of crapy lead toys from China, but they're willing to ''merrily'' hold hearings and indict players/athletes over a little juice.

I hope these guys keep using them and keep figuring out ways to get over on the tests. Oh...and I hope Bonds wupps the government's ass in court and then is his arrogant-ass self afterwards.

I find it amusing that so many baseball players are taking steroids. I mean, it's baseball. It's barely even a sport. What do they need performance enhancing drugs for? Do they need some HGH on their leisure jogs and occasional sprints to first base? Do they feel that they need to be at the top of their game when they're standing in one spot and maybe, MAYBE catching a ball?

Do they really need steroids in a "sport" that doesn't even break a sweat?

pahunkboy -> RE: Baseball and the Mitchell Report (12/14/2007 12:24:16 PM)

In one regard- we just have to live with it. I had a look at what the Olympics consider doping.- it is much more extensive then you would think. I personally dont care for steroids; because if you ever do need them- they wont work. Having a back injury I had too many steroidal injections- this lead to roid rage which I can tell you is real.  The quack Dr shot me up way more then was recognized to be medical.  When i refused he got mad. Well he could no longer bill for $964 a pop.

This is egg on the face of the system as they adressed this probelm years ago.

If these ball players knew how debilitating this drug is- they would RUN and fast!

The public lost nothing.  The players compromised their body - a whore of sorts for our amusement.

All is fair in love and war.

My opinion is that it's not such a huge list.  There must be ten times as many former and active players who have taken performance-enhancing drugs.

Anyway, UR, these are FORMER politicians.  Lead toys from China are not exactly George Mitchell's fault.

I want to know how McGuire and Sosa escaped?

And I think Bud Selig is part of the problem not the solution!  And being in the Bay Area we love Barry but he didn't have to go there he was already well on his way to be one of the best of all time....
