I actually ran into one the other day in second-hand type shop, right along everything else sci-fi. Any kid could have bought it if they liked.

When I was a child all the games i played revolved around being kidnapped, interrogated or the slave of a king and queen. One friend and I played a twisted version of hide and seek instead of counting we would tie the other one up and then we had as long as it took them to get out to hide.

I was in the goth/alternative commuity fairly young and around the age of 15/16 had friends that kept talking about whips and chains and older friends who talked about the flogging they gave someone the night before at the goth club. From there I just continued to seek out knowdlege and learn. I had my first Master when I was 17 its was a bad abusive relationship that still haunts me but I learnt a lot of the what not to do/what not to beleive from it.

I had these thoughts/feelings for as long as I can remember...I just didn't know what they were, and honestly thought I was all alone with my thoughts and desires.  Since the internet wasn't really widely available until I was in my mid to late twenties, it took some time until I realized I wasn't quite so alone in this world.  [:D]

I learned about such things around 13 or 14 had my first girlfriend at 14 also and the first girl i tied up. Then i got on the internet and it whent crazy from there. I made a homemade vacbed when i was 17 and i was able to get a lot of girls into the life style b/c they saw the pics of it i had on myspace and were intruged by it. I told them it was my "medataion(sp?)" bed.

BTW I'm 19 now.

I shudder to think of the damage that I would have done to myself if I had had the internet in my teens. *gulp* I would probably have been one of those news stories about the stupid girl who believes that guy in another country really twuly loved me while he was just waiting for a body to add to his collection! It makes me laugh too, this weird idea that BDSM didn't exist before the internet. That there were no resources available, there were resources but they had to be searched out. Erm, searched without using a search engine. The old paper Dewey Decimal System written or typed out on paper cards. Jeeeeez I miss those lol.

beltainefaerie -> RE: omg in their teens? (12/16/2007 6:23:23 AM)

When I was still only about 5, I had lots of kidnapped by pirates or really a princess, but forced to work as a servant kinds of fantasies, then called "imaginative play". I discovered my mom's copy of My Secret Garden by Nancy Friday when I was about 13.  I was fascinated by various sexual fantasies and eventually, when I was about 17, found the Story of O buried in with her romance novels.  I was so fascinated by that book, I was actually inspired to pierce my own labia!  I later had a girlfirend who shared my love of Anne Rice and had found the Beauty books.  We read those together for hours!

I was also goth and I recall being both annoyed and confused that many were wearing collars as a fashion statment and had totally no interest in BDSM.

Even though the internet existed by then, my information was still from books when I was living at home.

Edited to add a couple details I forgot.

ive been noticing that a large percentage of the people on his site say they discovered the lifestyle in their teens, WOW, i had no clue about this when i was a teenager and im in my 30's and still am just a beginner, how did so many get so educated in BDSM so young?  was i under a rock or something?

What I like are the 19 year olds who post that they have been Pro Dommes for over 10 years.

I have posted before that my friends and I in 3rd grade used to tie each other up to see who could escape.

I almost always escaped, anybody I tied up almost never escaped.

sodsta -> RE: omg in their teens? (12/16/2007 9:38:24 AM)

I knew I liked being tied up when I was very, very young. Around about 5 or 6... of course, it was totally innocent then. Like a game of cops and robbers, or cowboys and indians... I always wanted to be the one who got captured and tied up, and I just never grew out of it. As I grew up I realised I really enjoyed it, so started trying to do it to myself if I didn't have anyone else around to do it for me. I think I was about 12, actually, when I realise that being tied up was a sexual thing for me... and I think I was about 14 when I realised it was an actual, recognised fetish and that lots of people enjoyed it.

The internet obviously gave me a lot of insight, as did certain books I used to sneak from my elder sister's bookcase, haha. I was, I think, about 16 when I had my first, fumbling, clumsy, kink bondage experience with my then girlfriend, but it was a bit silly and neither of us really knew what we were doing. My first, real, genuine BDSM experience happened when I was about 18. I'm 21 currently, and I've been involved with my local scene for going on two years, now. :)

LATEXBABY64 -> RE: omg in their teens? (12/16/2007 10:20:16 AM)

I do not think it is about wither it was here before the INTERNET  I  do know it was not main stream where is now it is like every fashion Nazi is in someone way invoked with it or drive by media peeps.  lets say 87 and earlier i doubt anyone knew. the sub culture was here unless you where introduced to it by someone. and at a young age na evidence is to over whelming to say different it is all in the percentages baby just how it is

Dear LB-

I am a little fuzzy on the exact year, but somewhere around '77-78, I was aware (as a suburban teenager) that there was an SM club in the city called HellfireNYC. it wasn't all that underground at all...

when I was 11 or so, there were a few of the Gor books in my local library- on the Science Fiction shelves...

When I was 11 or so, I had a whole bunch of Gor books on my bookshelf in my bedroom, next to Conan, Fafrd and the Grey Mouser, Lord of the Rings, etc...

Then I grew up and realized people took them seriously and modelled their lives after it.

Go figure.

~fast reply~

I started investigating and experimenting with BDSM when I was 16, I didn't get my first computer till I was 24.

I was introduced to the D/s part by my best friend in highschool, she picked up on my more natural tendancy to defer to her lol, then i got involved with my first Dom when I was 17. I never discovered "online" until 1999. It was a huge relief too, because i had no idea how to go about finding like minded people. I grew up in a small northern community. definately not a lifestyle that was out in the open lol

I discouvered the closest group was 5 hours away but atleast I knew there were others out there somewhere *S*

I first learned about BDSM when I was 18 - it was a combination of listening to Howard Stern (he would talk about the Vault) and then going on the internet to look for the scene in NYC.  I think people discover it when they are ready.
