I thought I would introduce myself and pose a question at the same time. 

I've been browsing the message boards for a few years now without having my own account--which I have finally made. My goal here is to find friends and not play partners. I'm not sure if that is a realistic goal or not. Has anyone else came on here with similar intentions and found success?

Sure have, though I do have to wade through a lot of random horny do-me letters to find the rare gems of actual good conversation and friendship.  Basically I ignore any propositions that don't have to do with friendship and intelligent conversation, which is to say about 90% of my mail, and focus on the 10% that is nice, friendly and chatty.

I've also been browsing for some time....but cant' say I've made any real friends. I always thought that anonymity would bring out the best in people but sadly and ironicly it seems to have the opposite effect.

Absolutely.  [:D]  Some very nice people here, who actually carry on interesting conversations and support my work.  Even a few I would love to meet for any reason, work or play.  [:)]

I have  met many through this and other sites , some  i have met in person at events , others i hope to meet .I agree there are more  good people  on here VS the goofball wanker types .But just as everywhere  there always has got to be that  creepy kreeperton,or the guy who  has to talk through the whole movie and sit right behind you .Just sometimes have to do  some weeding in the kinky garden .

It's realistic.  Like the others have said, you may get more propositions for play partners than you would care for at times, but there are good friendship opportunities, too.  I'm glad to say that I've had the opportunity to meet quite a few from the site that are here locally, and they are fun folks.  I've also been lucky enough to find some email companions that I enjoy quite a bit.

Welcome.  I think this site, like most other things is what you make of it.  If you express yourself in a friendly way, ask good question, answer in honesty to others, you will find people will message you and be very respectful.  Of course you will get some spam emails, mass emails and those who just can't read....but if you ignore those and focus on the good people here, I think you will be pleasantly surprised and may find a friendship or two.

I have made a few friends and love the forums.  I am also not seeking play partners.  As others have said, just ignore the mail from wankers.
