Ok,
So I'm submissive, but still don't know?
How do You minimize the address of a site, if it
is a mile long?
I've seen it done, but just not sure.

When you're typing your reply, click where it says "link". Copy and paste the website next to where it says URL, then give it a name in the text box below. I'll give an example.

Or you can use the html code, for example to have www.collarme.com come out as just CM., type the following but don't leave a space after the first bracket ( i had to leave a space there or all you would of seen here is just CM.

Oh! how interesting!!... i didn't know you could use that code!

i always use:

[url=http://www.collarme.com]CM[/url]

which seems to do the same thing... ^_^ it's neat that there are two BBCodes that end with the same results ^_^

But I prefer links that show the real URL so that you know at least SOMETHING about where you're going. I hate links that say "here."

What Browser do you use??
MOST Browsers (Mozilla Firefox, IE, Netscape, Opera) have at least some kind of "hover" effect that allows you to see where links lead...

here

Place your cursor "over" the word "here" above.. but DON'T click...
Now look at the "bottom" of your browser window... in the "status bar" area... do you see a "url" showing up there? It should tell you that the link i posted above is going to "http://www.google.com".

If you don't see the url in the bottom status bar... when you "hover" your cursor over the word "here" does a li'l text message maybe pop up right next to your cursor that says the url?

:) You should see it in one of these places...

Yes, I know, and I still prefer to see the URL that I am about to click, rather than having to hover over it.

Also, if you copy and paste the information into a different program with a format that doesn't preserve hyperlinks, you lose the link if it just says something like "here."
