popeye, I am only glad I put my water down before I read this thread.

Thank you for consistently making me laugh! [:D]

I was in Wal Mart yesterday for 4 hours, I did not see any fat women in brown spandex!
I did see one fat man in spandex shorts!

Dang it, I forgot to get a tub of popcorn.

MzMia, it's easy with Walmart for material.
They probably think they're on a "diet" "only" eating popcorn with a pound of butter on it!
It'd be fun to set up a "hidden camera" in front of a Walmart and watch all the people comming out!
You spent four fuckin' hours in a Walmart?
Boy, you really are a masocist!

lol, the Wal Mart I tend to go to is a well heeled part of town.
People that often live in homes that cost around $400,000 and up need/want to save money.
The parking lot is always full.
I love buying Christmas presents there for a few close family members, that say they hate Wal Mart and never shop there.
Ironic as hell, lol.

It is not hard to spend that much time in Wal Mart, I was doing a lot of Christmas shopping.
My fellow shoppers are so friendly, I end up talking to at least 5-8 strangers every time I go.
I spent about 20 minutes talking to an old hippy with a long ponytail about exercise mats, weight balls, and how he survived being blown out of a window.

You know me! Life of the party even in Wal Mart!
I think people are so happy and friendly because they are saving money.

MzMia -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 6:40:22 PM)

Another Wal Mart fact about the D.C./Metro area:

There are NO Wal Marts located in the inner city, projects or low income parts of this area.

Most Wal Marts are located in areas/locations in which homes are at least $300,000 on up.

I guess the poor in the D.C. area have to travel far to get to a Wal Mart.

popeye1250 -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 9:14:58 PM)

Mia, in the "well-heeled" part of town eh?
Rich people sneaking into Walmart to "save money."
Well that must be like watching a Baptist sneaking into a liquer store.
I saw one last night! He parked his car on the opposite side of the parking lot and "sneak-walked" over to the "Paki" when there were no cars parked in front of it, head down hands in his pockets and the bill of his hat pulled way down.
Probably told the old lady he was going out to get some gas.

MzMia -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 9:19:09 PM)

lol, popeye thanks for another chuckle.

I did not say rich, I would say middle class struggling to survive!
They don't sneak in, they park their cars, hold their heads up high and walk in.
After they pay their mortgages, many can't afford to shop anywhere else!

Home prices here are starting to come down a little bit, but they are

still over-priced for most people.

What were you doing parked outside the liquor store watching who went in there?

Why I was going into the whorehouse next door.

MzMia -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 9:29:46 PM)

lol, you are so damn cute.
Was it a nice place, like the bunny ranch?

DomMeinCT -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 9:36:29 PM)

Aldi's prices are low because they too import much of their food from China, and have their own "brand" names on the products, just like Wal-Mart.  Check the labels next time you're there.

popeye1250 -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 9:38:39 PM)

I used to work security for Circus Circus in Reno and I've been to the Bunny Ranch and the Mustang Ranch, Joe Conforte's place.
The Mustang was the nicest in my opinion.

There are tons of stores that do.
It is just PC to pick on Wal Mart, sort of a like a feel good movement.

My point also.  Aldi's is doing for small grocery stores what Wal-Mart does, only on a smaller scale.  They're quite expansionist and compete with smaller groceries by offering a narrower range of products (say, two types of toothpaste instead of 50) and import much of their unbranded (or not-well-known-branded) products from China.

MzMia -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 9:48:20 PM)

lol, popeye you do get around don't you? [;)]

Are you enjoying watching Rev. Imp along with your favorite beverage?

popeye1250 -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 9:52:38 PM)

Yes, Coca Cola.
I cheated! I was gong to lay off the Coca Cola for a month while I worked out.
But, today is my birthday so I said what the hell! (Dec 17th)
And, I'll go next door to that liquer store today and buy $100 worth of lottery tickets at the ciggarette store.
Baptists eat your heart out!

DaddysgirlnKS -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 10:22:43 PM)

Hi, my name is j, and I"m a walmartaholic....i confess, i shop at walmart...but I don't wear spandex and never knew that walmart sold tubs of popcorn...dammit...i miss all the good stuff.   It's really the only place around here to shop anymore.
Walmart started going downhill when Sam died, he was really a pretty nice guy, i met him when i was a little kid.  He drove an old pickup truck and looked like a farmer, and he at least had some integrity.

It's getting to the point there's no where safe left to shop.  Aldi's buys their stuff overseas?  Last Aldi's label I looked at, it said something about Illinois, but it's been several years since i've been in an Aldi's.  They sell a lot of stuff I never knew now, one guy i know bought a computer keyboard from there, it's totally waterproof and can be rolled up.

MzMia -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 10:26:53 PM)

LOL
I am scared to buy any electronic or computer equipment at Wal Mart.

But then I go to the other big name in town, BEST BUY.

Soon, Best Buy will be one of the few places to go.

I have not seen anyone beat their prices, in fact if you find something cheaper, they will give
you that price.
Now, I LOVE BEST BUY~

Lordandmaster -> RE: Walmart (12/16/2007 11:04:01 PM)

More like--Aldi's main suppliers are overseas, especially China:

http://www.suedwind-institut.de/downloads/ALDI-publ_engl_2007-08.pdf

It's a German company, of course, but they're struggling to keep prices down, and they've determined that China is the way to go.

popeye1250 -> RE: Walmart (12/17/2007 10:19:05 AM)

L&M, China isn't the way to go with me and a growing number of people.
I just won't buy anything that's made in china anymore.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Walmart (12/17/2007 11:53:29 AM)

Yeah, I was dismayed to learn all this about Aldi, because I've enjoyed shopping there.
