It's fairly common for me, but not frequent (luckily). I swear, ever since I turned 44 it's like a light switch was turned on. All I wanna do is fuck fuck fuck . oops! Is that too much info.

It's true for our bodies for a great many things. If you give up eating sweets you eventually loose the taste for them, for example. It's all about how the neural pathways have been programmed in your head. Sexual pathways work the same way that the others do.

This is what Wikipedia says about libido (I had heard this before. I just wanted a somewhat credible reference in case y'all thought I was crazy!)

"Testosterone is a steroid hormone from the androgen group. In mammals, testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes of males and the ovaries of females, although small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid. In both men and women, testosterone plays a key role in health and well-being as well as in sexual functioning. Examples include enhanced libido, energy, immune function, and protection against osteoporosis. On average, an adult human male body produces about eight to ten times more testosterone than an adult female body.[1] However the overall ranges for male and female are very wide, such that the ranges actually overlap at the low end and high end respectively"
Testosterone is the hormone that fuels our libido, our sex drive. Since males have prortionately more of this hormone than females, they think about sex quite often (i.e. constantly). As we women near menopause and our hormone balance is in flux, our testosterone levels rise and our libido increases as well. Sorry to take the magic mystery out of it, but there really is a physiological reason for this.

lol, very interesting topic. For my part, I (M) turned 34 yesterday and my libido is through the roof. However, in part it is due I think to the close, emotional relationship I have with my lady. On days we spend together, touching, talking, laughing, living, and loving, the intensity builds in us both intensly.

There's a lot of wise people posting here and it's hard to argue with experience and biology, but I do really think the mind (and by implication the heart) is the greatest of the aphrodisacs. I've argued with my friends for years that sex is in more in the mind than in the body. The Vanilla guys seem to have the most trouble with this concept, but as they age I think many of them are starting to agree.

Only my humble opinion :)

I know that my sex drive fluctuates horribly from can go litteraly for 4/5 months no sex no problem, and then about the 6 month mark I get teary and bitchy, to interested in it but can't get off

That happens for me too...but once I get some, I go crazy wanting more for a while.

My libido turned on like a lightswitch when I turned 30...when I turned 33 it got even worse/better! I was warned by a friend that it would happen (she was a few years older than I) and I didn't believe that it could be true...I was wrong!

And on the rest of the thread, I'm now 30 and haven't had any change in libido from aging so far... we'll see what happens as I get older. Lubrication has been an on-and-off problem for years, though. Somedays it's normal and fine, other days no good.

If my libido gets stronger as I get older, other people are going to be in danger.

But I'm thinking it won't be the case for me. I started perimenopause a few years ago so I'm about on track physically with females between 45-55 hormonally, and have all reason to expect menopause within the next 5 years if genes tell true.

So I may be somewhat stabilized already haha! The rest of the world's random people on the street better pray so. lol!

i've found that coconut oil is the best thing in the world. odorless, i havent had any allergy issues, good moisturizer for skin, hair, nails, the works. good for massage oil, good for lube, all round good stuff. (oh yeah and CHEAP!)

Yeah same here, my gyno suggests it may be from having been on the pill for so long. He does say it's very common for women as they age. I think the key is to point out to those you are with it's not a reflection of their prowess and buy stock in lube companies!

When in a relationship, my libido is insatiable. When not in a relationship, my libido works on a 3 month cycle - every 3 months the need for sex gets becomes too distracting and impairs my ability to function. If I can make it through that 2/3 week period than I am good for another 3 months.

He looked at me the other night and said something to the effect that he knew I was having multiple orgasms but I wasn't wet and what gives. I shrugged and said fucking menopause. The next night just one orgasm and I'm soaking wet, same answer - fucking menopause.
