I made some videos of my flogger crafting techniques and want to post them for free public viewing on my web site, leathercellar.com I'm in search of video editing software that is easy to use, beginner friendly and inexpensive. I want to be able to cut out unwanted footage and add text frames through out the video. I tried windows movie maker but it seems confusing! Please email me with your advice. You're going to have a tough task meeting all your requirements on a PC. The Audio/Video post-production space is pretty much owned by Macs. Of course, this is your excuse to treat yourself.

I have Roxio Creator Premier...works quite easily. Also makes professional videos. I bought it with the pruchase of a new pc...I think it was around 80. However windows movie maker is pretty simple to use as well. Doesn't do everything Roxio does but it is free. Got anyone near you who knows windows at all? Movie maker is simple.

BTW my first PAID video editing gig was in 1985, so you can answer with I don't know what I am talking about on that subject, but you would be wrong. Having fun with your Lepoard crashes and bugs? Don't even preted not to have any, especially on the audi/video end of the market. And yes, I use a Mac a lot, its not the greatest thign in the world just another tool. Now to the OP, Adobe Premiere Elements will do what you want and Sony Vegas has a basics version somewhere around a $100. But I have to be honest with you, if your finding windows movie maker confusing, those aren't going to be any easier. K

if windows movie maker was confusing....i recomend hiring the 21 year old down the road to edit your movies for you....cheaper in the long run...will save you time, money and a lot of head aches

Windows MovieMaker is about as simple as I've seen -- its all a bit taxing, but once you practice with it a bit it works fine. Takes some time, but it works for most stuff. Keep at it with WMM. It will do what you say you need, far as I can tell. And the price is right ;) edited to add -- if you have a computer using vista, the version of WMM on that will allow you to create your own effects, etc. so you can go from plain to a more advanced finished look pretty fast. I still use XP but have thought of getting another laptop with vista just for that reason, but haven't quite rationalized myself to that point yet... lol

Software applications usually are pretty easy for me to figure out. However windows movie maker is not cooperating. I'll check it out, maybe I just need to update it. I can't get the frames into the story board and some features are grayed out. I am pressed for time mostly and want something I open up, go to it and get my work done.

Yes it's me from the Leather Cellar. I had some down time there for a while but am recovering slowly and trying to get back in the groove.

Well thank you, SilentTigresss That was very kind of you. And I think I have the video editing problem solved. Someone suggested I take a look at VideoEdit Magic. It's great! Easy to use and the price is right. I am working in it right now and it's doing exactly what I want. Ha, I just love submissive softwares.

Back to the topic at hand.... Studio DV by Pinnacle systems is pretty intuative. I've used it for several years now, and I've even competed in the 48 Hour Film Project locally. (Came in 4th last year.) and It took me maybe two or three days of just playing with the demo footage before I felt pretty confidant. Just my $0.02.
