Do you use coutil for the lining or do you use a less expensive alternative? If you use an alternative, what do you use? I have found that I can get silk at my local fabric store at a reasonable price (keep an eye on sales and get it for less than $10 a yard) but the only place I have ever found coutil is online and boy is it pricey!
Personaly I use what they used in period ( Elizabethan and up since they made corsets) which is fustian. It is a combo of Linen, and Cotton with a brushed almost mini courdoroy look to it. It is soft, sturdy, it breathes, and it is not as pricey as the other fabrics. This is what I use in mine, or if a customer has no prefferance.
