~fr~ As an emt, I was trained to pay sharp attention to a woman's description of her pain. They tend to understate or downplay their symptoms. Men, on the other hand, are more into whining and drama. That's a broad generalization, of course, but I think women are more stoic than men. Bob

Women "discuss" their feelings and what bothers them, men rant and rave for days over stupid shit. Take this past weekend, for example. The garbage pickup was supposed to be on Friday, but they never passed to pick it up. My dad calls them up, raising seven kinds of hell with them. They eventually passed on Monday morning, but that's all my family heard for three fucking days! My mom told him that they'll pass when they pass...lol. Gotta love Mama for her logic. Speaking of garbage, a man will brag for a week that he took out the trash without being asked to, while a woman can run a household, get the kids off to school, have a full-time job, be a gourmet chef, look beautiful 24/7, and be the world's greatest sex kitten known to said man without as much as an acknowledgement from a man. Fellas, what's wrong with that picture? [;)] Once again, that is why women rule!!! [:D]

In my experience, women complain more than men because men are more often in positions of responsibility where complaining won't fly. Just my experience, and I've certainly known men who bitch a lot too.

I work with men all day long and I have a few ladies working for me too. The men complain during one of their rants or when they are at the bar with their pals and the ladies complain during their discussions with each other. I would have to say its a pretty even split. Though I will say this when one of my guys is sick and comes to work OMG ...talk about whining! The ladies tend to get quiet, take their meds and not make to big of a deal of it. ~Lashra

women complain to obtain a clear and concise objective of correcting the situation as quickly as possible when men complain, they inflate the situation by over analyzing without ever solving the original problem

I will concur with the posters who have stated that some women tend to complain for the purpose of getting feedback, correcting the issue, then moving on. Some men tend to complain just for the sport of it, spice it up a bit, then get into a pissing match with their brethern of like mind to see who has the largest beef. sappatoi and sam seem to have a point. In my discussion with Treasure over this issue, she found a study in which men and women were found to complain equally - but the method and reasoning for the complaints were different. I'll let her post the link, if she will, but from memory, men complain in order to justify or excuse, women complain in order to get action of some sort. I told her that made sense to me. Women nag, men blow it off. [sm=biggrin.gif] I'm not sure she's exactly in my corner in this, but it certainly sounds good to me. [:D] Firm PS. Treasure does NOT nag NOR complain. In fact, she is close to perfection for a woman as you are likley to find (for me, anyway). This discussion is "in general" for all women, and all men, and not specifically for any one man or woman. Think Bell curves.

AS an after thought to my past post...I guess complaining is done to get your attention,I am one to put off till tomorrow what needs to be done today...So in her own sweet way Diane reminds me that some things needs to be done...With her voice of an angel she gets more done then bitichin'...I still say women complain more then men....
