I have always thought that everyone out in the world has a fetish, be it of any level. What do you, the very knowledgable participants of CC.com think?[:)]

I guess that all depends on what you consider a fetish. I see a fetish as a trait or activity that brings sexual enticement or pleasure.
I think all people have likes and dislikes and those likes and dislikes are in the bedroom as well as outside so yes All people have fetishes.

I wouldn't say everyone has a fetish, but, y'know... a rabbit's foot, a lucky pen, a stamp collection or a model train set... it doesn't necessarily have to have shamanistic religious properties to count, it just has to hold unreasonable attention...

Wait, wait, you mean the kinky stuff? Oh... uh, yeah, everyone probably has a fetish in someone else's eyes. If you forbid yourself anything but straight missionary with the clothes on, I'd classify that as a fetish too, so there ya go.

I don't have any actual fetishes. I have lots of things that turn me on and almost always make me want to have sex, but no actual fetishes.

I have a lot but as people have already said it is the way you see the definition of the term. Some are in denial.

I think the answer varies depending on how you define fetish. In psychology circles a fetish is something (an object or body part) that a person absolutely needs in order to become sexually aroused. I really, really like lots of things (like leather and thigh high boots and pvc and corsets and certain scents) but none of them are true fetishes when defined in those terms. I did date someone once had what I believe was a true fetish. He simply could not become aroused without being blindfolded during sex. No blindfold, no woody. At first it was fun and interesting (I was young and yet to be exposed to kink at the time) but it didn't take long before it became tedious and boring. It was also rather limiting for him for obvious reasons.

my first husband was a foot fetishist in the true fashion. and it got very tedious. I didn't realize til a year or so into the marriage, it was just NECESSARY for him. not just a kink, but the core of his sexuality.

I didn't like it. I felt rather extraneous.

well yeah, but attached to what I began to feel like he viewed as an annoying life support.

I have fetishes and I have excentric ways too…. All depend on how you define and refer to thing as to what goes into which draw.

KittenWithaTwist -> RE: Does Everyone has a Fetish? (8/19/2005 12:16:19 PM)

If you use the dictionary definition of a sexual fetish: "Something, such as a material object or a nonsexual part of the body, that arouses sexual desire and may become necessary for sexual gratification"-then no, I do not have a fetish. I do have many kinks though. Fetish and kink seem to have become incorrectly synonomous.

Why would someone be compelled to deny their fetish in a BDSM world? That seems a bit silly.
