It also prompted the local prosecuting attorney— bombarded with complaints generated by a national animal-rights group—to write a letter to the Arkansas state police seeking help investigating whether David and another teenager had violated state animal-cruelty laws. The state police never granted the request, and no charges were ever filed. But John Bailey, then the director of Arkansas's state police, tells NEWSWEEK that Governor Huckabee's chief of staff and personal lawyer both leaned on him to write a letter officially denying the local prosecutor's request. Bailey, a career officer who had been appointed chief by Huckabee's Democratic predecessor, said he viewed the lawyer's intervention as improper and terminated the conversation. Seven months later, he was called into Huckabee's office and fired.'

The Huckabee family Christmas card was reviewed (amongst others) on the TV last night. I didnt know whether to laugh, or be embarasssed for them. I would suggest he tries to avoid bringing his family into his campaign in any way in future - after all, in today's politics, image is so important. E

The Arkansas State Police do not investigate incidents like this here. That is the job of the county sherriff. The Arkansas State Police only get involved in local police matters when there is evidence of malfeasance, which doesn't seem to be the case here. The state police here under Democratic administrations was a good 'ol boy system. They were rife with corruption, and I seriously believe that is what lays behind his firing. If you want to compare improper uses of the State Police between Huckabee and Clinton, I can write a fucking book. Clinton used the State Police to take out his laundry, arrange meetups with his mistresses, get his brother out of trouble for drug dealing and so on and so on. Hillary used state money to hire a nanny for Chelsea. That is prohibited under Arkansas law, so she listed the nanny as security personel. The ASP handle security for the governor, so it was clear as day that this was fraud.

I don't think we need or want to see the Republican version of Clinton in the White House. Aren't they both from the same town even? I don't know about these "polls." We're seeing signs for Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Obama. and Edwards around here. Lots of Edwards signs, he's from Seneca, S.C. I wouldn't want a Minister or Preist in the White House. And no more lawyers! If Huckabee's "surging" we're not seeing it here in S.Carolina. About two months ago I actually got one of those political polling telephone calls. Funny, they didn't even mention Ron Paul's name among all the other candidates. But now Paul and Edwards have the most signs on the side of the roads.

Why is it,that when one of the 80 asshole leaders of the GOP get caught being a complete asshole,the automatic response is to bring up Bill Clinton?Note to the rightists,Clinton was one of the best presidents we`ve had,and America agrees. I know it helps in coping with 7 - 8 years of failure,incompetence and disaster after disaster(by Bush) to scapegoat Clinton,but it`s getting old.And it doesn`t really help,or take the heat off of republicans. "He was down here on a fishing trip," she recalled, "He was in one of the convenience stores and I went in to get me a Coke. And I went up and spoke to him. "And all he said was, `How are you doing?' I am not talking about the Bush presidency at all Owner. I have no love for the Bush Jr. administration. I am not voting for Huckabee in the primaries, but I get a little angry when someone constantly talks about how great Clinton was, then bashes Huckabee. I lived through both of their governorships here, and I can tell you that Huckabee did a damn better job than Clinton. I really don't understand the love people have for him and his wife. They are both sociopathic liars. The reason Clinton didn't ever consider Dumond's parole is because Dumond's victim was his cousin. Clinton's successor and friend Jim Guy Tucker made it possible for Dumond to be paroled earlier when he commuted his sentence. He did that shortly before he was convicted of a felony and had to leave office in disgrace. There was questionable DNA evidence that pointed to Dumond being innocent. No one was calling his victims liars. But there have been several incidents where rape victims fingered the wrong guy. All of that being said, Huckabee did not push though Dumond's parole. The parole board in this state is not under the direction of the governor. He can make suggestions, but he holds no sway over what they do. The parole board in this state has been blaming him, because they fucked up. Arkansas is and always has been controlled by Democrats. We have a good 'ol boy system down here, and they have done everything from fixing elections to murder to hold on to power. As I said before, I am not voting for Huckabee in the primary. But if it comes down to Huckabee and Hillary, you better believe I will vote for Huckabee. I can not stand the damn Clintons. I don't care what the majority of Americans think. Most of the ones polled probably never voted anyway. The Clinton's were sleaze personified. I will take almost anyone else besides Hillary. I don't want another 8 years of those scumbags in the White House.

Owner, Clinton along with Bush are the two worst presidents this country has ever had. Clinton made America a laughingstock around the world, he took "credit" for the economy which was largely caused by another "Bill", Bill Gates, and he was Impeached in disgrace. He took "responsibility" for nothing. Also, it appears that he was a Criminal Serial Rapist going back many years; why didn't he finish schooling under the "Rhodes Scholar Program? Also when he found out that his Reserve Military unit was going to Vietnam he got some General to get him out of it and "resigned" from that unit. Hardley the actions of an "Alpha Male." I laugh when some people try to call Bill Clinton an "Alpha Male", all you have to do is mention his draft dodging and they say; "Oh." LOL. Oh, Clinton did give us that collosal mistake called "NAFTA." If Clinton were in the private sector he'd be disbarred selling Isuzus in Arkansas by now or probably in prison given his propensity to rape women. And then there's his drug problem. His own brother said of him; "When it comes to cocaine, Bill has a nose like a Hoover vacuum cleaner!" And you can tell by looking at his nose with all the broken blood vessels on it that long time cocaine users get when he forgets to go to makup before an appearance. Even President Carter said of the Clintons; "they're despicable human beings." And anytime the Clintons go to their place in Killarney, Ireland they always hang around with another of their neighbors there who's a coke-head, "BONO." He's been known to "forget his makeup" too. I wonder how many rehabs he's been to? I don't understand how people who are drug users think they can "hide it " especially if they're in the public eye. As much as I dislike Bush at least he "suited up" even if he didn't "show up" for the last year of his committment. But that's the only good thing about him. America doesn't agree. I'm not making this stuff up.

How did we start with a thread on Huckabee and end up with Clinton? Could it be that Huckabee is sooooo embarrassing as a potential Rep. candidate that Rep. posters try and harpoon the other side to shift the attention? I think we should be told.
