Well, I agree to some extent- we are all shaped by the social forces around us. OTOH, I think that a power dynamic exists in any interaction, and that much of what we do is a matter of being more natural...

tough call.

I think it was the first generation degenerates and perverts who created the lifestyle. They discovered pleasure from outside the given norm. I say, "God bless 'em!"

I was interested in this stuff before I realized I wasn't alone and there was actually a name for it. So people make the lifestyle, the lifestyle doesn't make us. The lifestyle teaches us how to safely practice our naughty desires!

I am who I am

In fact I think it is the who we are that tends to influence this thing that is called a "lifestyle". People change, evolve, experiment & build upon what is available to them at the time they are doing a thing. I've seen this thing called a lifestyle change as more & more people began to influence it with their uniqueness. This is why I get such a laugh when people talk about how fracked up today's "lifestyle" is... you guys, "WE" made it what it is because of who we are!
