I'm not Ti, but I'll respond to this anyway. I would love to see pictures that show me a happy person. Not particularly silly or giddy, but one that shows me that a person is happy with their own skin. The "peeved" look can be miscontrued as demanding or unhappy. (It implies that you are desperate to find someone to make you happy.)

As for the reason for "cannot commit", simply explaining that in your profile would help a lot. That is, by far, most often used by married (and cheating) men. Saying that you are planning to move soon, but want to meet people as friends and for learning opportunities would be more encouraging.

Good luck. Think positive, and let it show through in your profile. The intention is to get people interested, not to scare them off. ;-)

That Ms Marwood is right on about having a good profile to weed out trolls. She is also a great shot with flaming marshmallows on the beach. Go Sonnet Go!

I look horrible when I smile.

And I'm not attached - when I say I can't commit - it's not because I'm seeing anyone - it's because I'm moving to another country in a few months.

Are you sure EVERYTHING screams "stay away?" Can you get more specific? You know, why doesn't anyone ever tell me these things?

That picture is the only good picture I have of me looking good. And yeah, I was a little peeved when it was taken - I was just about to testify in front of the Texas Senate.

Well, if you don't like how you look when you smile, how about rather than a full blown toothy grin, just a slight upturn at the corners of your mouth. Even a little smile is more welcoming than none.

Yup, everything screams "stay away". I'll elaborate: Your picture was scowling, your body language was defensive, you say you're liberal but you're in a suit and wearing a power tie plus a snarl -- that says mean "Young Republican" to me. Your new pic is much better than the old one, but you still say you want one of you in a suit. Don't do it! A casual pic of you in clothes you actually relax in, with a bit of a smile would be sooo much more inviting. Also if you're looking to move in just a few months, perhaps start looking for friends or correspondence pals first and see if something clicks. Perhaps let it be known where you'll be moving to, so people from that area might know that you'll be arriving and be able to set up a meet once you get there.

Testifying in a tee shirt???? I do hope you are full of crap and didn't testify in a tee shirt. Have you considered putting on real clothes and having a picture taken? Can be another T or regular casual wear. A bathing suit but come one who is going to get excited about meeting someone that posts a picture of themselves for others to relate too in their skivee's? No one that I know. Sorry but between the paranoid of your name and the t shirt you lost me. Rename yourself and put on come clothes for Pete's sake. You are supposed to be showing off your good side here bucko.

To be fair to txparanoid, the t-shirt photo is new. I think that the photo that represents him testifying at the hearing is the second photo where he is wearing a dark suit, white shirt and tie. I think you will agree this is perfectly appropriate attire for appearing in front on a Senate committee.

hello paranoid. Am I mistaken or are those TDCJ prison bars in the window behind you? Just goes to show there are subs everywhere. You might want to use a plain white wall for a background rather than bars. Texas Maam

No, those are from my room in the house that I rent. Previous owner had them installed. Only house on the block that has it. I thought it would be a selling feature.

You know what - I'll take down the photos and send them to people who ask.

Troll comes from the fishing term meaning "throw out a net or a bunch of hooks and just see what gets caught." In the sense you are using it, it's basically a person who sends out dozens of messages to anyone 1/ breathing 2/ the right sex and see who replies.

They are the grit of the email universe.

So, the troll uses email as his trawl.

Hmmm...I missed the prison bars!

It's interesting how a picture can project so many things, to different people, but I'd agree about the bars.

A few months ago, I saw a sub's photo (someone new to the site) that was of a bare chest hunky guy, throwing a clenched, angry fist to the camera. The photo was not only very aggressive, I found it quite threatening, just to view, based on the man's expression and stance. I sent him a note, to explain my own take on the photo, and he politely responded with gratitude, and he immediately changed his photo to one of the same hunky guy, but this time with a huge, warm smile.

What a difference a photo can make. I was sorry he wasn't closer to my own area.

Nice, thumbs up! :) A pic would be nice someday, maybe when you find one that cuts a happy medium between suit and t-shirt, between smile and scowl, but for the time-being just the text is fine. I like that your sense of humor shows thru and that you're self-aware enough to point out that you don't get innuendo -- that's a good thing to know up front. :)
