My Dom and i were talking about this topic the other day because to problems i had while on my road trip, i still have about 300 spankings to take with different implements. Both my Dom and i were saying that no one can take 200 straight blows without causing permanant damage. So the question came up was this:
  For all of you out there, when you get punished, and say your Mistress/Master is going to give you his or her hardest spanking with either a cane, crop, flogger, whip, or whatever else he or she chooses, how many blows can you take before you reach your limit?

Emotional or physical?

The truth is that if I know he's disappointed in me, I'm bawling within a minute of just light taps and whether he stopped then or kept going, it wouldn't change how I felt.

i have to second celeste. for us, pain is never used as punishment except playfully (ie. i'm naughty for doing things i'm supposed to be doing anyway because it's fun to come up with excuses to get harsh beatings, LOL). generally the knowledge that i have displeased him and the guilt i experience because of that is more than adequate punishment.

i have no idea what my limit is - we usually don't count the blows. now you've got me all curious as to whether others count them usually or not. i'm sure it's possible to take more than 200 blows without permanent damage, depending on the implement and the skill of the person wielding it, but i can't imagine taking a beating like that without varying the intensity of it and building up, either.

I'm with Celeste and annabelle... physical punishment isn't used around here, but I'll take some swats when my husband is in the mood to give them. =)

That being said, I'm a total pain wuss! 200 smacks, oh my gosh, a mere 30 just makes me cringe. I am so petrified of the crop in particular.....

I don't really know if being struck 200 times would necessarily cause permanent damage.  I would imagine it would depend on how hard you were struck and how much area of the body the strikes were dispersed over.  I don't think I would do well having to endure something like 200-300

I'm not used to getting whipped for punishment, but I think the most I've ever taken at a time was maybe about 40 strikes.  When I think I've reached my limit and I'm begging for it to end, I've learned that I can usually take more when I hear words like "take it for me"--somehow that seems to renew my ability to endure it.

Its hard on me, mentally, to take spankings, and i've talked with my potential Mistress about this, because my mother was very abusive to me my entire life.  But i've never put myself into a situation, even just playing with someone i was seeing, where i might be spanked.

Pain is pleasure not punishment.  I would ask for 300 blows with a cooked spaghetti strand.  It may take awhile, it may take a few strands or more, it would be absolutely freaking hilarious the whole time.  Done after the real punishment, it would be a great ice-breaker and harmony-stabilizer.  'Twould probably lead to some great sex too!

hard hard spanking with no warm up I can get to around 40 (I think with the belt) totally lost count with the flogger because oh yum, the crop I am begging for mercy after each stroke (can you guess which Sir likes best hehe) but it is only ever done as a play thing NEVER a genuine punishment.

And I am like marie with anything I dont like dont feel I can endure, if Sir says something along the lines of do it for me, I find I can, it refocusses my mind.

But the thing I find with super hard spanking is I cant get into subspace during the session, which is why I find it hard to take, I float after but during it is just all pain.

Fun spankings I've had 52 for my birthday last year. But this wasn't with his full strength. If he used his whole strength I doubt I could take even ten. But he's amazingly strong and heavily muscled.

He does not punish me, but he does beat my ass sometimes. He has never hit me past my limit. I have never counted the blows, it just wasn't of interest to me how many I can take. I cannot imagine counting them, I would rather just enjoy it while it lasts. It is not like I am in some competition with myself to beat my last record.

Seriously, I do not even have the slighest curiousity to know how many blows it takes for me to reach my limit... for one each implement is different, and each time we engage in this play is different. I do not really see the point.

I've been made to count out loud before and found that it somehow helped me get through it.  It gives my mind something to focus on other than the pain.

He could require me to count one day, never even considered it. If I remember correctly you get "punished", so being paddled is not necessarily a "fun" event for you... and that would make a big difference because being hit isn't something to endure, it is something I welcome most of the time.

our first session hubby took about 150 swats with a paddle, he'd earned them for breaking curfew in the weeks before during our "getting to know you" period.  he didn't have too many problems with that, but much more than that at that time and i don't think he would have been sitting as much.  now i've got to go sit and think of that night, lol, relive some special memories!

I never understood the need to count.  If it is punishment (unlikely) why would someone want me who had to beat me into compliance?  If it was for fun, I space too quickly to make the tally of any use.  If it is for pride I would ask whose pride?  Mine to show I can take it?  Or his to show his all powerfulness?  Either way, it wouldn't work for me.

Silly man- depends on the person and the harshness for that person.  My first masters psycho masochist sub took 500 spanks straight in one session and had a blistered spot which lasted a few months- but did eventually fade.

I question more why on earth he thinks hundreds of spanks will be more effective than a single session of sitting down and getting to the cause of the unwanted behavior?  Punishment is annoying enough, why on earth prolong it?

It's not about number, it's about how my body is working at that particular time with that particular element and that particular harshness.

for me pain is not used as punishment either as somone already posted also.

even when the whiping or floggings are done for my Lord's pleasure and my Mistress's pleasure,it's not a given just how many i must take.i take what i can and then when we all realise i can't take more at any given time,we cease it.

and in all honesty it was not untill just a few nights ago that i found out my Mistress was counting.
