I have a long-standing and deep love of muscle cars, especially of the GM variety. Having one of these jewels would be nice. Really, really, nice. [X(]

After developing hybrids and promoting green-technology initiatives, General Motors Corp. is set to headline the North American International Auto Show with a car that will be among the most powerful and expensive it has ever sold.

Building on Chevrolet's muscle-car heritage and cachet with affluent car enthusiasts, GM will introduce its highly anticipated Corvette ZR1 coupe at the show. The car, with only a handful allotted to the Detroit company's thousands of Chevy dealers, will come with a supercharged, 600-horsepower engine and a price tag of about $100,000.

I have not had a muscle car since my 77 Camero. When I was 15/17, a friend and I rebuilt a 56 Bel Air, put a 327 from an old vette in it, 3/4 cam, fast shifter kit, pos track rear end, and trick wheels on the front. Those were some good days. Now though I long for a Lamb, instead of a muscle car. This Z-1 looks nice, but I will not sink a lot of money into an American Made Car anymore. Used to that was all I would buy.

Seperate note, why in the hell paint a car yellow for?

Thank you, owned [;)]. I love vettes, they are the ultimate in American muscle, IMO.

There are lots of foreign cars that I'd love to own, Orion; if I find myself in a Porsche, Ferrari, or a nice BMW, I won't weep [:D]

I haven't had a muscle car in a long time, either. I've had 2 Trans-Ams, a Camaro, and a Nova. Now, I drive a beater. [X(]

Generally, I agree, but there are some that catch my eye. But still, it wouldn't be my color of choice.

My dream car is a 67' Shelby GT. Damn I had a 76 Nova, was white with red and blue stripping, had Spirit of America on the back. Pulled the 350 in it, and put a 396 in it. Could drop it from 4th to 3rd and stomp it, the tires would spin, and once almost lost control. Put that baby between two pine trees about 3 in the morning. Was running about 60 and came up on a 90 degree left turn that was posted at 15. Had to use a chainsaw on one of the trees to get the car down (it was about 5 foot off the ground because the road was elevated compared to this field. My friends Dad owned several tow trucks and He towed it to the school (high school) auto shop for me. In the end I wound up donating it to the school for a better grade.

Damn I remember the days of pulling into Krystals, all the cars backed in, most hoods up. The sound of V-8's hitting a lick, the smell of exhaust, oil and rubber.

Here's the ZR1 in a sneek peek run at Laguna Seca earlier this year:
