has no one here ever heard of Kidney Thieves or Voltaire?

Heard of him?  I've made him the butt of more than his fair share of jokes over the years.

When I was picking him up at the Buffalo airport for his show at "Club Diablo",  his plane was delayed.  So I asked the gate guard:

"Have you seen a 6 foot tall cuban Satan carrying a guitar case come down the hallway in the last 10 minutes?"

She looked at me blankly;  not sure if I was joking or not.  I then saw him walking down the hall sucking on a smoothie.  I waved to him and the guard turned around;  took one look at him and said:

"Damn,  you weren't exagerating!"

Aw, Razor!  Seo Taiji??  Seventh IssueLive Wire!  Have you heard their [his and his band's] acoustic performance of Heffy?  Beautiful!  Have you seen their videos?  To Love.  I wonder where I can get copies of their videos, in fact.  Do you know?  I think there's a majesty to his sound.  Seo Taiji gives me a rush.

I've actually been following his various band and solo work ever since the very early 90s.  Of course this was when his band was called "Seo Tajii Boys".  At the time they were pretty much the Korean version of New Kids on the Block.  He's come a LOOONG way from those days.

Level was so good as to provided a link.  Do you know where to get DVD's of Seo Taiji's videos?  Last time I looked around, I was surprised not to find anything of his for sale, except the last couple of albums of his.  Maybe I just don't know where to look.

By the way, has he officially gone into retirement or seclusion or something?

Razor, have you discovered Calmando Qual?  Let me recommend them to you.  So musical and moving and inventive.  How to categorize...some of it is outright industrial.  Some is dark and melodic.  Their EP's Silent and Twisted Clock are good to start.  (Anything other than their one techno remix album, Mechanical Mix with unjust blood - I just say 'no' to techno.)

*nods*  They're decent.  Though sometimes I do have to wash the dark away with a little Polysics, aka the japanese Devo.  The girls in that band are just so adorable.  I wanted to put them in my coatpocket and steal them when they played my club a few years ago.

I try not to take the dark too seriously.  I think that's why I enjoy Voltaire's stuff so much.  Well that and he's extremly fun to fuck with.

Oh well, seems you are not as enamored of Calmando Qual's music as I.
I've heard of but have not listened to, Polysic.
Voltaire...I think I do not know his music.  Do you know him personally, then?

Oh, have you heard LM.C?  I really enjoy them.  They're fresh.

"Good morning, Apes!  hahahaha  Wake up!  WAKE UUUP!"

Yes,  I know him personally.  We're not close friends.  But we've crossed paths on quite a few occassions and shared drinks on many occassions.

You've most likely seen and heard some of his work if you have watched SciFi channel or Cartoon Network in the last decade.
He's done two songs for "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy",  station IDs and commercials for SciFi channel.
He's drawn at least three comic series,  "Oh My Goth!",  "Humans Suck" and "Deady".
There are two books in circulation which he's penned;  "What is Goth?" and "Paint it Black".
He's appeared on various news programs to provide an insider's point of view for the whole gothic "subculture".
He teachs a course on animation at ... crap forgot which university.
Oh and he finds time to tour almost nonstop and produce quite a few albums.

You can check some of his tunes on his myspace page

Hahaha Red...

I picked country & classical, lol.
I like most everything but these days I find myself tuning into more classical music stations, lol....

Maybe emo will be more like a dodo, and become extinct....

To me, it's a sort of musical whining. A simplistic explanation, but there you go.

sunshinemiss -> RE: What's your favorite kind of music? (12/24/2007 5:33:58 AM)

there's two kinds of music - good music and everything else.  i'm just saying

That's right.  I like a Mozart piano concerto, and I like Slayer. I like Public Enemy, and I like Simon and Garfunkel. I like Waylon Jennings, and I like the Temptations.

Good is good. [;)]

EvilGenie -> RE: What's your favorite kind of music? (12/24/2007 7:30:00 AM)

I always say I go from Baroque to Aerosmith and pretty much all in between though I will listen to some more often than others. Have to say I am not a big techno and/or remix fan eventhough I remix myself, it is for others. I am a huge fan of 80s rock as that was when I was in high school. I love music, good music so if it is good I will probably listen to it. Yes, ''good'' is a subjective term used to mean I am not that fussy.

I didn't vote as there wasn't an option for me. Had there been an all of the above I'd have probably voted that. Level, stop dropping the ball! [:D]

**edited to add; Rif as well as other Moroccan music.
