As your post , Bounty, seemed to be directed towards me, I reread my posts carefully and did not find where I accused someone in peculiar of being a fake. I just alluded to the existence of fakers and spoilsports in general, which seems more obvious to me than to some other people here. Your 'ad hominem' seems unprovoked, but if  I wrote anything incorrect or insincere in my posts, I'll gladly apologise. If you would like to help me reevaluating myself, I would appreciate that. I will keep a keen eye on my mailbox, but have to go now: Christmas' social duties . . .

MY post wasn't dircted to anyone in particular ,I should have stated so,Don't become so thin skined like so many here on collarme....

looking at your response again ...clearly you state as i highlighted that you are incinuating that if someone doesn't furnish proof of themselves (they're fake) after a long period of time (years in your case) which makes me wonder why in hell would you wait years unless you enjoy being taken for a ride that long.

not showing up at appointments - they are fake. and i said if it was an emergency? is that person still a fake?

like you have stated "though one cannot be sure all the time" so there's a 50/50 chance you could actually be wrong basing your assumptions that any given profile here is a fake.

I'm a Replicant, so technically everything about me is fake.

carlie310 -> RE: CM profiles (12/25/2007 9:46:09 AM)

The word "fake" is chum in the water, almost causing the same feeding frenzy as "true".  Use them both together, and hilarity ensues!

My "true" answer is that even those who try to portray themselves accurately in the profile, postings and journal don't. When you try to describe yourself in a limited space, there is a lot of editorial license in what to leave out.  Choices are made.  So what you see of me (hypothetically, of course, since I've hidden my profile) is what I want people to see, filtered by my self-perceptions.  A photograph of a photograph.

There are probably more than a few profiles here that are deliberately fabricated, but you'll never get a true (or "twue") picture of anyone on the internet.  Just my opinion.

laurell3 -> RE: CM profiles (12/25/2007 9:51:30 AM)

Well the backlash is somewhat understandable as unfortunately the word "fake" is also one that many people "on the other side" use when one doesn't immediately genuflect, say they have no limits and accept their demands to "get down on my knees and suck my cock bitch" in a first email.  Even those people aren't fake, they're just asses. [;)]

There may be totally fabricated profiles out there, however, there are probably more real human beings that just aren't compatible.  It doesn't make them fake, it just makes them not the right person for me.

I was not trying to judge anyone..but perhaps a better way to ask instead of "fake" would be to use "deliberately fabricated"... ...then again  a little "chum" in the water is always fun to see[;)]

carlie310 -> RE: CM profiles (12/25/2007 10:00:53 AM)

But you know, even the deliberately fabricated ones are put together by real people.

DanesWood -> RE: CM profiles (12/25/2007 10:40:54 AM)

I know several people who have a number of profiles on CM, one told me it's so he can judge what sort of response each profile gets enabling him to improve his genuine one, not something I agree with, but who am I to judge.
Yes there are others on here who are here just to get their kicks from flirting and leading others on with no intention  of it going beyond the internet, nothing wrong with flirting online as long as those you talk to are aware of your intentions.

RFL, there is nothing wrong necessarily with having multiple profiles....no, I am not going back on anything I have ever said before.  The ones that I see that I have contention with (although it's not my business or my problem) are the ones that same user will have male, female, dom/me,sub/slave profiles.  It may be possible that a male or female have multiple profiles, even some dom/me or sub rather than switch, or even all of the same side of the kneel. The problem is when the same user had a 49 yr old male dom, 21 male sub, 43 female domme, and a few hot 20's female lesbian slave accounts, where only women can write to.  There are a lot of regular posters that have multiple nicks for numerous reasons.  I don't call it either way, it's not my business.  The only other time I personally have issue, is when a poster that has multi profiles/nicks answers themselves on these boards, trying to fool other people into believing that at the time, and answering their other nicks to give whatever they are posting further veracity.  Then, even though it's not necessarily my problem, I do take issue with that.

As for me, I have cut down,. I am down to 225 profiles, all female, dominant and old.  [;)]

KnOcala -> RE: CM profiles (12/26/2007 6:13:51 AM)

It's difficult when you first get on to talk to people.  One of my first attepts to contact someone I took a lot of time, tried to word it just right as not to be an ass, a wuss, just looking to get my rocks off, etc.  Instead she replied "cut and past huh?", and i thought no, I spent a bit of time trying to sound right, and came off like an idiot.  oh well, now I just say whats on my mind and try not to over think it.  If I sound fake, its in the eyes of the beholder. (or ears),  But I really want to meet people and become more invovled in the lifestyle.  I do have a vanilla life I have to work around to some extent.  mostly my children who i don't want to expose to the scene.  One day if its for them, they'll find it on their own but it's not soemthing I want to think about.
My attempt last week at a munch (after getting an email reminder) I showed only to find it had been cancelled.  Kind of discouraging.
So, ever the optimists, I still stand on my first statement I think 90% are real, just too different degrees and visibilty.  The 10% are probably who you are dealing with 90% of the time.

Though one cannot be sure all the time, there are tell-tale signs that a profile is a fake or at least the person behind a profile is a faker.
[clipped]
Like the "truly, devotionally submissive" persons that answer with oneliners to your mails, ignoring questions, just interested in what you feed them. Same persons showing that they obviously haven't read to the end of your profile, or even two lines into it. And showing lack of commitment through lack of care in composing a mail (allowing for disabilities of course).

Oh dear, I fear I'm fake.  Well, kinda.  I am prone to one-liners, usually regarding cool photos of [insert object here], or witty repartee.

But I'm not twuely submissive, so maybe I'm real after all.

undevotionally yours, thornhappy

armand29 -> RE: CM profiles (11/27/2009 7:40:32 AM)

Failing to admit that a lot of people on this site are fake is not a smart thing. And the argument that goes with it about those who accuse others of being fake just cause they can't get responses is even lamer.
I got 4 responses today, started chating with them, only to be asked for money and to register to websites 5 minutes after.
Add to it that I get offers all the time from masters who want to release their subs. All I ask them is to send me an email and that is how i know they're fake.
How do I know? I read the email headers, so when I see that the person claims to be from Texas but the email header shows the person is from Lagos Nigeria, I know something is wrong.
So my advice to you : use email and if you suspect someone is fake look at the email source info.
In hotmail for example and after you login , locate the message of interest in your inbox and just right click on it and choose view message source. Hotmail will open up the message source for you in a new tab or window.
In it look for a line like this :
Received: from [41.219.248.193] by web113705.mail.gq1.yahoo.com via HTTP; Fri, 27 Nov 2009 04:59:02 PST

This line says that the yahoo mail server received a request from that particular IP via web-browser.
Then just use a tracing tool like this http://visualroute.visualware.com/ plug in that IP address [41.219.248.193] and when its done you'll see that person
is in Nigeria not Texas.

So there are ways to know whois fake and whois not and believe me a lot are fake on this site and its pretty annoying.
Good day

DesFIP -> RE: CM profiles (11/27/2009 7:43:10 AM)

The fact that they didn't jump at your offer of being a distant third doesn't make them fake. It means they aren't compatible with you.

Like every other fem sub here, I've been called fake because I turned someone down. Not true. What is true is that I'm submissive to one and all you other people aren't him.
