The domme who taught it to me called it a "catspaw" knot. Quick, easy, works with a short length of rope or the end of a long piece. quote:
ORIGINAL: Phin DV I noticed your concern about overtightning if the rope gets caught. There is a very simple knot that You can grab the hanging bits and yank as hard as possible and it will not tighten around the wrists, ankles, etc. I do not know the name of the knot or I would post a hyperlink to instructions. I will attempt to give instructions, but I am not so good at explaining without physical demonstration. Drape the rope over your wrists so that the center is between them. Rotate your forearms away from your body (counter clockwise for your left hand clockwise for your right) and below the section of rope between your hands. Repeat twice (three total rotations) Take the loops from around your wrists and put them together. slide that double loop over the sub's hand. You will have two hanging bits grab those and push the bunched up parts of the rope towards your subs wrists. Tighten to desired tightness. To loosen the knot pull the loop at the end of the knot away from the wrist. I am hoping that someone knows what I am talking about and will post better instuctions. Sorry for the thread hijack. Phin
