They don't even need to make it a question or option on the profile. I think people should put it in their essay part of their profile. Perhaps Collarme could just put a suggestion, "Make sure you include your relationship status" when it's time to start the essay.

To me it seems like one of the most important bits of information, and yet no one seems to include it.

Life sucks when the whole world doesn't do things the way we think they should, eh? It's of no relevance to me so maybe I should start a thread telling people to leave it off their profiles. Goodness forbid that people should just ASK if it's important. Can't be wasting precious time like that.

All that info is at the very top of my profile. It would be nice if the following data fields would be added to profiles.

Marital Status: ie divorced, nevermarried, seperated, etc.
Seeking: Master, Mistress, femsub, femslave, malesub, etc. Maybe make this one multiple choice.

Then include both in search parameters. No need to have all those bi-sexual lesbian slaves seeking slave sisters pop up in my searches.

I respectfully disagree on this. Why waste the time and space to put it in the essay when it's almost always already in the main profile descriptions? I only discuss marital status in a narrative when the main profile listing doesn't show it.

Although I'm willing to list it up front, I also don't see the need to distinguish up front between never married, divorced once, divorced twice, etc., etc. Frankly, if you're single and unattached, it shouldn't make any difference. If distinctions like that matter to someone, they can be discussed later, just like any other topic.

I think that's something that should probably wait until you're getting to know someone better. After all, those subjects can be painful.

The problem with having people fill in a field is that there is so much diversity, it can be hard to cover all the bases (unless "other" is an option). I'm a poly dyke in a LTR, available for another LTR but not necessarily looking for one, a masochist bottom with some small switch tendancies, but don't typically identify as submissive or slave, and I'm looking for female and/or genderqueer sadists who are local to my area. It's difficult/impossible to communicate much of that in any basic easy-to-program table! So the fields in my profile suggest I'm a "lesbian switch" (and I don't really even like the word 'lesbian').

Plus, marriage is kind of a sore topic for some, whose marriages may only be recognized in some states but not others.

You actually bring up a good point. To be honest, it never even dawned on me to mention that I was unmarried and that I haven't been married. It's kind of one of those things you just kind of forget because you're so used to it.

IronBear -> RE: Are you a 40 year old virgin? More info, please (8/22/2005 8:56:54 PM)

Early on in my profile I state unequivocalably that I'm married and in a poly relationship with A Gorean Mistress and that ideally we want a couple with the girl being bisexual, and that untill we find either a couple or a suitable bi girl, I am seeking for a sub who is into pain to wiork with me under the guidence of my Mentor in needle play and so on and so forth.. That is right up front and out in the open. If it scares off 99% of potential people thats ok as the remakining 1% will be closer to what I want. Frankly I'd rather have an empty collar than one filled with some one who was not realy suited. Training partner wise, one of my friends informed me he knew of a couple of girls who are pain sluts and for a fee will fit my bill... Hah!! I guess this means we have prostitution (or similar) in the lifestyle ... I learn something new every day.

I think the more information you put in a profile the less communication you may have.

Of course it would automatically weed out the people you don't feel are compatible with you. Yet, what if you are wrong? You are isolating a huge segment of society.

As Eleven also stated you can always type it in yourself as well.

Anyway, I have no idea how to write the perfect profile. I think I'd want just enough to interest someone yet not too much that a few million questions did not have to be asked.

By the way...anyone see the 40 year old virgin yet? Is it good? Bad? Indifferent?
