So, when you see that you have the very LAST WORD on a thread before it sinks into oblivion in the high-numbered pages of the forum... Do you do a victory dance?

Do you say "Ah hah! No one can contest my widom?

Do you wonder why no one wants to talk to you?

Do you pay no attention, because only a doofus like dave would notice such a thing?

It depends on the situation.

If my last post was a serious response to an argument then yes, I feel like I scared them away with my superior intellect. If, on the other hand, my last post was meant to be humorous, then I feel like the guy who killed the party just by showing up. I comfort myself by telling myself that everyone else is just to stupid to appreciate my wit.

Another question (if I may) – how long before you decide a thread is truly dead and unsubscribe it?

Yet another question (if I may, again) - did you ever see somebody start a thread and then get no replies, so you reply just because you feel sorry for them?

Ah, yes, when you carefully craft a witty message that must SURELY deserve a "LOL", or at least a ... and it just hits the floor with a SPLAT and lays there twitching for a while. Not that i'd know anything about that sort of thing.

i never subscribe to anything, i just scan new posts for something interesting... i figure once a post has hit page three, it's a goner.

Aww, thanks!

I think hardly ever anyone gets the last word it is more a case of people get bored with the topic and feel no need to further contribute. Who has the last word in a lot of cases is irrelevant. I’ve seen threads end with what I consider to be stupid spurious points as well as well thought through ones.

Obviously I've slayed them with my superior wisdom, so they've all slunk away ashamed.

Yeah, exactly.  Or sometimes the person who gets the last word is someone that everyone else is tired of responding to.  Some people insist on getting the last word, and will respond till Kingdom Come if you're willing to keep up with them.

Does having the last post in a train wreck thread you started count before Mod11 slapped the lock on it?

If thats the case I be guilty or victorious whichever way you want to think of it

If it's "The last one to post, wins" thread.
