For as long as I can remember I've been a fan of hers. I was amazed to hear she was still alive late last year, not seeing her on tv or in magazines (not I could find at least) I thought she'd passed away a while ago.

I hope she gets the care she needs and recovers soon.

I hope she recovers.

When Bettie was rediscovered, she was surprised to find she was an icon. She's been about penniless and in a nursing home in Florida. You've never seen her in public because she was upset about her weight and would only do voice overs for a documentary on her life a few years ago.
She said she would rather live on as the Bettie Page of the pin up era than appear in public. This is not unusual for very elderly ladies or very ill people; Being famous for your beauty is a hard thing to carry for a lifetime.
She went off to Africa as a missionary at about the height of her career; I'm sure she did a lot of good in her day.

We'll light candles for her; All the subs I know were going to go to Mardi Gras as Bettie Page this year. The wigs are bought and corsets picked out...

I stand corrected- Miss Page wanted to go to Africa, but never did. Even the almost correct websites aren't entirely correct...

Of course she is in the thoughts and prayers of all those who have seen her as an inspiration.  The original BDSM Diva!!!  Please, keep us posted as to her condition.  If I hear anything I will post it as well.

Taboo4Two -> RE: Bettie Page (1/10/2008 10:39:08 AM)

The Bettiescouts group on Yahoo posted that she is out of the hospital but that her pneumonia is lingering. She's in an extended care facilty and it looks like she still has a long way to go before she regains her health.

BETTIE UPDATE

Dear Scouts, I got an update on Bettie yesterday 1/17/08. Bettie has
improved slightly but is still unable to speak. She is more alert and
her social worker told me he read some of our cards to her and she
appreciated them. It looks like this will be a slow recovery but
thankfully she is getting better. Thank you for your cards, candles &
prayers.
Bettie forever...
Scoutmaster Steve

Best wishes
Lucy

I hope she feels better soon.

She is still such an Icon.
