sharainks -> baby its cold out there/what do you wear to bed? (12/28/2007 7:19:48 PM)

A few weeks ago we had the thread about how to keep your house warm in the winter when you don't have central heat or even a furnace.

Now...what do you sleep in to stay warm?  I always swore up and down I would "never" wear those fleece sleep pants.  Enter an ice storm that knocked my power/heat etc out for 4 days I and caved and got a pair.  Now I love them and have 3 pairs.  I wear them and either a sweatshirt or my winter nighty.  Quite the attractive combo.

I guess there are some benefits to being single like being able to sleep in whatever you want.

Body heat does wonders, so don't really see the advantage of being single there.  If you are really cold, wear a stocking cap type hat (get the kind you can tie under the chin) to bed, that will help a lot.  It's best to not cover your head with the blankets as moisture will build up and can make you feel colder, nothing like waking up with Ice inside your bag.  You should have a sleeping bag capable of letting you sleep on the ground outside as part of your emergency kit (EVERYWHERE gets emergencies), if not get an Army Surplus bag ASAP(they are cheap under 100$ for a -30 bag--a retail North Face type -30 bag will cost over 700, but be much lighter and nicer), and use it under your covers.  Hope you stay warm.

I wear my Daddy's flannel shirt to bed, and it keeps me toasty warm

Edited to add, I wear his ankle and wrist cuffs to bed too, I would say that they were mine, but that is part of the turn on, they're his

No matter how cold it is, I wear nothing. I just cannot sleep with anything on, if alone, I just pile on the covers, if someone is with me, their heat is enough. But I am always hot anyway, I keep all the windows open even in winter!!

I got flannel sheets.  When I sleep, Im usually in anything ranging from tank top and underoos, to nothing.  Just depends on the time of year, how I'm feeling, and whos around.

I sleep as I do when it is not cold. When it is cold I may add extra blankets. This past month I often added a bottle filled with warm tap water with a sock around it and put it near my feet.

Eat lots of beans and onions then tuck those blankets in tight.

PJ's!  I generally wear flannel pants and an oversized T-Shirt (Occassionally go without the T-Shirt, depending upon how warm it is).

If it's really cold, I throw on a thermal undershirt before slipping under the covers.

Boxers

Sheets, blankets, and steaming hot sex with my wife does the rest when in need of warmth.

I have jammies w/feet in them and fleece gowns that cover every inch.  These aren't things I would buy - teddy bears all over them - but I found them in my mothers closet after she passed.   They do keep me nice & toasty when I decide to wear something to bed.

warm fluffy long sleeve tops and long bottoms keep me toasty warm on those few really cold nights here in FL

CalifChick -> RE: baby its cold out there/what do you wear to bed? (12/28/2007 10:23:03 PM)

I can't, just cannot do it, cannot wear clothes to bed.

I have flannel sheets, I pile on more blankets, and since I'm sleeping all alone these days and have no one to cuddle up against, I do what my ex refers to as "the burrito wrap".  I roll side to side so that the blankets are tucked under me on both sides, then lift my feet and drop them again, and the blankets are tucked under my feet too.

I also have a fan going because I need the noise to sleep.  In the winter I make sure it's pointed very much away from the bed.

It's been hovering at/below freezing here at night (yes, in central California), and I turn off the heat at night.  So far so good.

Before Daddy told me to wear his shirts to bed I slept nude... I also sleep with a fan pointed away from me for noise so I can sleep. At his house the sound of the wind and seals are very nice to sleep by though.

Spoken like a true Minnesotan.   Yah, hey dere, I think I'm gonna get some tonight because my girl is wearin' the crotchless snowpants and dere sweats wit dere nipple cut outs, hey!

There is no truth to the rumor that in Duluth, the Victoria's Secret stores stock crotchless long johns.  No truth at all.

Edited to add:   I sleep naked, as does my wife.  Flannel sheets, a duvet and the sleep number bed keep things more than toasty.  We set the thermostat down at night, and even in a cold Chicago winter and a big old drafty Victorian house, we usually kick the duvet off.

Cold? I live in Myrtle Beach, S.Carolina.
I'm from New Hampshire, I don't get cold.Temps in the 30's here are "cold" to the locals.
People up in N.H. wear those clothe hats and socks to bed.
And furry slippers from L.L. Bean.
You lose more heat through your head than anywhere else.
Keep your head under the covers for about 20 minutes and your bed will be nice and warm from your breath.
Also, a 15 pound Tomcat under the covers warms it up too.
