At this time I could not imagine ever getting tattooed, or pierced either. I have a thing about needles, blood and pain. I personally dont like the idea, the feeling. The idea of putting a picture or a symbol on me is less disturbing but I am not keen on that idea either.

I was offered the chance to become a tattoo artist, to be trained by a very good tattooist that has his own salon. He told me I would need to get tatted up, tattoo artists have loads of tats. His body, the parts I saw were so amazingly tatted, all his fingers, neck etc. So much cool artwork on him. Good tattoos can be mesmerizing. I told him I thought I could be the one who was not inked up. The thing that seemed most important to me was to be a really good tattooist, not to have my sleeves and neck etc. done. He wasnt so sold on that idea but I felt certain there could be such a thing as an excellent tattoo artist who was not tatted. He said I would need to get a tat so I knew what it felt like. He said I could be marked with a water-based ink that would not be permanent. I began to do some research and found out some cool information on tattoo's.

Ancient roots of it were for protection. The ancient designs are awesome, geometric patterns. If you got inked you would be safe from harm, kind of like how some folks wear evil-eye charms and stuff. I kind of dug that point of view, I like the idea of enabling others to be free of nasty entities or whatever. I did some designs on paper. I kind of went back on forth on whether I could do this or not and in the end decided, nah, I cant do the needles, the blood, the pain. One false move and the tat might be a mess. In the end I felt it is not my calling. I liked coming up with the designs though -that was a fun process, trying to find what I thought looked really cool and symbolic, would hold meaning and importance, would stand the test of time. I adore text and typeface so I loved that part too. The closest I would like to do is design one for someone and let someone else ink it in for them.

I can also understand wanting to consider doing something like a tattoo for a man I felt so strongly about but if that never happened I think I would prefer that.

I've always been fond of the idea of marking a submissive with a simple, small script-ish "E".  Nothing fancy, nothing direct, but significant.

Now, the hard part: finding the submissive to mark, in time.

tainted gypsy,

your tattoo sounds awesome!

Thanks ... Yours is pretty breath taking ... beautiful.

As for Suleiman ... often thought about a brand and think if I was given any say in an ownership marking branding would be my preference. Something very primitive and final, and the pain involved may be a little more symbolic of ownership for me personally ... hmmmm

I worked in a shop, for a little over four years, sticking people and coloring their skin. I, myself, have full sleeves, and then the back of my neck, and a piece currently in progress that spans from neck to my lower back. Needless to say, I am an artist and a fan of body art and modification, but I don't think they are for everybody.

As far as getting one "for" someone else. I have done piercings, tattoos, and brands of that sort for a lot of people. Everything from people visiting the shop for a quick initial, wedding bands, collars, names, symbols; to elaborate collaring ceremonies where the marking was done as part of it. I think these kinds of permanent marks can be amazing, and spiritual, not to mention beautiful. I also think you should think long and hard before you do it.

For example, in two weeks I have to do a Prince Albert piercing on a male slave for his Domina as a part of his collaring. He will be put into chastity while the piercing heals, and then it will be used to keep him chained. I think using this kind of thing is fairly common in the lifestyle, and fine so long as you are sure it is what you want to do.

Don't do it just because you are in love, or a slave, or because someone else says so. I look at permanent marks in D/s as even deeper than a collar, or more than a wedding band. If you have any choice of your own in the matter you should put a great deal of thought into what it means to mark your body forever, and more - before you allow else to mark it as theirs forever. If you're a TPE slave who consensually gave over your rights, now owned, you may have no choice. In which case pray your Dominant has a good eye and some artistic taste.

It is true that it is considered taboo in the industry to have your lovers' name put on your body as the kiss of death for breaking up. As many initials and names, etc - as I've put on people - I've spent as much time covering them up. I did one once where the girl got  a paddle with her Dom's name on it. She ended up coming back six months later to have the paddle colored in and her new dom's name added above the freshly filled in paddle.

I'm in a hotel at the moment, travelling for New Year's Eve but I've grabbed what photos I could find of my ink, and put them on a page to look at. Check them out here ... http://www.annabelhell.com/muse.html
