Status: offline 		Happy Yule and New Year to you all.

Here's one for the board. I'm considering taking on a new slave. I would like to collar her but she has an skin allergy to metal. I would like to get a locking slave collar similar to the Turian style available but as yet have not been able to trace anywhere that does them in any thing other than metal.

Has anyone got any ideas where I might look or have had this problem before. Could you sugest some alternatives perhaps.

Status: offline 		I have seen plastic covers that goes over the collars on some sight I don't remember where but if you do a search you should find it.  I think it was on one of the sites that had the collars.

That might be my site since we are the only ones making collar sleeve to my knowlage.

I have many customers with metal allergies that can wear my collars but of course everyone is different.
Just to clarify something.
I've been making Turian style collars for about 10 years. When I was first approached to help design and make them, I was told that the Turian collar is made of round metal. Not being Gorean, I'm not 100% sure on this tho.

Status: offline 		I made a wooden one a while back for the fun of it. It is 21 inches in circumference and magnetic closing. Not inteded to be very secure.
Someone else was making one at the same time but I lost the thread and never did see what he came up with.

Status: offline 		does she have alergies to titanium as well? It is hypoalerginic. I have a mild alergy to gold and My titanium wedding band has given me no problems at all

I did some searching for titanium collars, I did not find any but I did find rod if you or someone you know is good with metalwork

I've been reluctant to use Titanium because of the cost of the material but I have gotten some requests.

Status: offline 		I too have a metal allergy to all but 18kt yellow gold, platinum, niobium, titanium, and surgical grade stainless steel - I wear a lot of beads - I would be very interested in bdsm themed jewelry as well as collars - I don't like plastic collar covers for myself

Status: offline 		Are we all forgetting leather?  Granted, the look is different, and there are still the various metal parts on it, but a leather collar with a plastic/gold/velcro/wood glue closing would work, no?

Status: offline 		I've never seen a plastic sleeve for a collar but then I don't get out much.
The sleeves my wife makes are cloth of various types.

The OP was asking about Turian style collars and they are round, most leather collars are flat. My wife's 1st collar was a leather braided collar, She still has it and I'll have to take a picture of it. Her dad was a saddle maker and had his own leather shop, that came in handy.

Status: offline 		Wow! seem to have started something here! I like the idea ofthe wooden collar. Very natural. Absorbs something of the slave that wears it. I'd be interested to have more detail re: cost on that VadFarkas, diff woods etc. Also would it be that hard to fit a lock?

Anyway keep the thread going.

I think I had it on ebay for $40, it didn't sell but had a lot of hits, so I still have it.
It was a one time deal since I don't work in wood. I found the ring at a Hobby Lobby store while looking for something else. No one there knew what it was. I bought it on a whim to see if I could make a collar out of it. The other member that mentioned was going to make his from scratch with a lock if I remember correctly. Maybe you can do a search but I never did see what he came up with.

I know what you mean. My wife could never wear anything but gold. thank goodness her metabilizm changed and she can now wear Stainless Steel. I heard once that the human body goes through a cycle every 7 years and things change. In her case this is true to an extent. Or nmaybe it's just menopause?

She wears a copper cuff I made in the Turian style on her wrist with no problem but if she wears it sleeping and it rides up a litte, she breaks out. That is strange.

I sent a customer in Norway a collar at no charge because she could not wear a Stainless collar bought from someone else. She wore mine for a month with no problems then bought it. So who knows how something will effect someone. I'd hate to be the Guinea Pig tho.

There are different grades of Stainless as there are different grades of Titanium but I think Titanium is the best in a case of alergies.... but like anything else, you have to pay the price.

Thanks Phin... seems between this post and the rope post, you have found some more work for me to do.
Once I have some loose cash I'll order some titanium rod and make a Turian style collar. I did make one about 7 or 8 years ago as a special request and remember it was tricky.
I also want to add that I'm not a jeweler and my skills are not in that area.
One more thing I thought of while checking out one of the links from you.
Yesterday I watched the Dirty Jobs TV show and they showed a little bit of making chain mail for a shark suit. The skill and patients involved with something like this has fascinated me for a long time also.

I didnt know how far you would want to go with the titanium, just thought I would pass along the information I stumbled across a couple of days ago in a compleatly unrelated search.
