I post on here almost daily. If I don't have anything constructive or helpful to say, I keep my little nose out of it. Most of the time, though, with most people benefit can be gained by hearing many different sides of a story...and so I post. It's easy to find time if you can type very, very quickly.

1. How much time do you spend at CM?
2. Why?
3. Where do you find the time?????
4. Do you offer this type of advice in person to people in your local leather community?

1. Sometimes it's once a day, other times it's a few days in between. I'm currently in the middle of a major home project, and this gives me something to do while I'm waiting for paint to dry.

2. I find that it has a high ratio of actual intellectual discussion and a high ratio of people who actually have experience. I like working within a forum where it's easier to know more about a persons level of experience and progression of experience by their responses to questions rather than just going by what they say in a profile.
Although most good threads have at least one responder trying to turn it into a catfight, this medium allows me an easy way to bypass them, while still absorbing the rest.

3. Me? Time? I hardly stop. I don't watch much television, and I focus more on my home and family than some people. My computer is located in a place in the house where I can still be fully engaged in a conversation with the family, pay bills, supervise kitchen work and do a multitude of other tasks while browsing the Forums. (between coats of paint)

4. Advice/ Well, let's just say that I answer questions from anyone who bothers to ask them of me. Not sure if our local clusterfuck currently qualifies as a community by any stretch, but I share my thoughts openly to whomever needs me, wants me, or cares to formulate a good question. I have a bit of experience in many realms, and sharing and encouraging others is spiritually fulfilling for me.

So I ask because I am a curious, inquisitive and somewhat nosey person:

4. Do you offer this type of advise in person to people in your local leather community?

1. I'm here 2 or 3 times a day.

2. Because I'd like to think that I might eventually meet someone who's truly on my level. Haven't found her yet but I'm hopeful.

3. I'm only here when I have free time and usually not for more than an hour so it's not really that much time spent.

4. I'm not involved in the community and don't really want to be so I guess the answer to this is "No".

---------

I prefer to read the forums instead of post to them. Somebody else eventually brings my point of view to the discussion anyway so I usually don't see any need to repeat them. It's an odd version of voyeurism, I guess.

Inquiring minds want to know.

How much time do I spend on CM? I log in to read posts for maybe an hour after I get home from work. On my days off...well..the time I spend depends on my interest in the posts.

Why? Because I enjoy discussing BDSM-related issues, I like to dispel the misconceptions of BDSM that are running so rampant online and I love a good argument.

Where do I find the time? I make time. I prioritize. (Time on CM is NOT a priority, btw..) If I find myself with time to respond to a post or two..I do.

Do I offer the same advice to others in my community offline?
Heh..I'm not sure how to answer this one. I don't see the same questions being asked from people r/t as I see from people online, but if I did...Yes. I would make many of the same recommendations. (It's hard to click on the "block user" button in real-time. Damn, that would be nice though...)

I used to spend a lot more. However, my workload has increased and I have less time to spend here. Also, I find that I've cycled through most of the topics and I'll only tend to respond to stuff I haven't addressed, unless it is to point someone towards information.

2. Why?

Well at first, I came here because I found it interesting to discuss with likeminded people. I guess now I'm finding I'm sort of discussed out. I do see the value of such a site, I just don't see the value for me right now. I'm not gone, just scaling back.

I'm an expert time manager.

I don't participate to any local leather community. Though I do find that a lot of what is written here applies to life and relationships in general and yes, I do cross over at times.

1. Enough time to go through the forums I'm interested in and maybe post. However long that takes. I recieve most new posts in my email, so that cuts back most of the time. This is only 1 of the forums I belong to.

2. To connect with friends, post and perhaps learn something new or interesting.

3. I work nights. Anything I need to take care of gets done before I approach the computer. Living alone at this time, that doesn't consist of much. He is there and I am here for now.

4. Sure, if they ask. What is it they say . . . opinions are like assh*les, everyone has one. Advice to me is about the same. Can lead a horse to water . . . but you can't make them drink.

Be well & take care,

I get their email every week announcing what the topic of the next meeting will be as well as announcements regarding their socials and those of other groups in the area. I've never seen any announcement of a FemDom social in all the time I've been receiving their mail (over two years now).

Give me a day to make a call and I'll e-mail you the info. Black Rose is the largest group in the US with 800 paying members. They have it all.

4.) The local leather community is all gay men. The Black Rose is predominantly male Dominants.

What socials have you been going to? The LF&P two weekends ago was FULL of females. I have no idea where you got this impression, every BR meeting/demo/social/event has tons of females in attendance, not to mention the Annapolis Munch Group, BESS events, Playhouse parties, and the MAMA munches are specifically for female dominants and male subs. This last weeks Black Rose Tuesday demo was all about CBT with Goddess Lakshimi- if that doesn't let you know that female dominants and male subs are a chunk of the community here I don't know what will.

Check out bdsmdc.com.

From what you've posted, I guess it's time for me to check things out again. It's been a while since I last attended a meeting. Maybe it was just a trend at the time but every week I went it was roughly 85% male members. I couldn't go to this week's meeting but had the thought there might be a lot of female members given the topic was CBT. I didn't learn of it until 45 minutes before it started.

I've heard of BESS and attended a submissive retreat at the Playhouse but haven't heard of the other groups you mentioned (thanks for listing them). I will look into BDSMDC as I wasn't aware of that either. Gee, maybe this is a breakthrough!

i'll bite.

1. Gawd only knows. Depends, sometimes too much, sometimes not at all, sometimes it just sits minimized while i go about doing things.

2. why? hmmmm because i find it very educational. Lately i've found it very humourous. Cos i'm a nosey person and wonder what everyones up to. Mainly cos i'm always looking for new and interesting topics. i like learning. i LOVE the topic BDSM. Its also a great source to go to when i'm unsure about something in my BDSM life, or i'm at odds or with something. Cos i respect alot of the ppl here and come for advice. Like i said, to learn. Like lonewolf, all i have is 4 walls and a ceiling, a big house to clean, an unmentionable to take care of. Not allowed money, not allowed out of the neighborhood. though Master takes me out, takes me places, gets me around ppl.

Lately, mainly because i find it hilarious.

3. Lordy, i make extra things to do, just to fill up the hours until Master is around LOL. gives me something to do when there isnt much else. cos MY unmentionable isnt a tomboy and isnt up for taking walks in the woods with me (not like i'm allowed... )

4. Dont offer advice, but oddly many of my friends ask for it. they're always saying "kelly, what do you think" So yes, i do constantly read situations for ppl and give thoughts. always with a disclamier tho!
