Status: offline 		does anyone on here work as a career counselor/academic advisor for a college? if so i got a question to ask: i'm a first time college student up in michigan and am wonder because i'm a pre-criminal justice transfer student, am i required to take all of my pre-requisites at once? there's maybe 3 classes i need that have no openings at this time. any info ASAP will be appreciated. thanks. (i need to get into english 101 and math 3, and also survey of american government)

Status: offline 		You can't find out the particular requirements of your school by asking anyone on this site's advice. You must go to someone in your department, at your school, who can advise you on what you must take and when best to satisfy your major pre-reqs and requirements. I would go immediately and seek counsel before the semester gets too far underway.

Status: offline 		You can acquire all sorts of information online usually, most colleges have all this information on their sites nowadays.

But if you cannot find the info you need online, you can always call monday morning to the admissions office if you still need lower division (that is what they call freshman and sophmore work in cali) credits for your major.

Unless you are under some sort of academic probation, the answer is No. If you really wanted to, you can choose to take one class one semester at a time. You can always sign yourself up to take as much or as little hours as you choose. It's your money. Pay for and take what you want at your own time.

No openings at this time.  At the last minuet, you'll find more than a few students droping out of these classes as open enrollment begins on move in day. It's a bit of a pain but you'll find empty seats as it gets closer to going back to school.

Also, if you can't find an opening, you can normally talk to the directors of each class/program and get squeezed into the course.

Between students who drop out at the last minuet and professors who will make room for you, you'll get into your courses. This is a farily common practice for most of your 100 courses. Don't break a sweat, you'll get in.

Status: offline 		You can't take whatever the pre-req's are for until you have the pre-req. So, if you want to put off taking them, that's fine, but know it means that you'll have to spend longer in college as it'll push back your schedule.

If you want to know career wise.. are you looking for some sort of internship? If so, there's typically a couple of courses important to take before applying to one. You'll have to ask someone knowledgable at your school about your course of study for that sort of information.

Status: offline 		Depending on your class standing and how your transfer credits transferred, you may be able to take quite a few upper-level classes and bypass the typically lower-level required ones. The university I am attending has all of this information stored in a secured area - yours probably does too - and it helped me plan out my initial course of action. If it doesn't, don't start signing up for classes before you talk to your faculty adviser or someone in admissions - nothing worse than wasting a bunch of extra time, money, and brain power on "useless" classes.

If pre requisites are holding you up then you can get special permission from the dean to be allowed to attend a full class, but there has to be a good reason. (like avoiding having to attend an extra semester before your intended graduation)  Avoid the problem by sitting down and mapping out what you need to take, and when, to graduate when you want to, than sign up for those classes before they fill up.
