sweetnurseBBW -> Other forums (1/6/2008 8:40:30 PM)

So tonight I was feeling especially masochistic and went to another alternative lifestyle website and engaged in a thread on a forum. The topic got extremely heated and insults started flying.

People can talk crap about cm all they want but as I have experienced tonight this is the only place I get some intelligible feedback on forums.

Most people debate issues intelligibly here and I just haven't found that on other sites. Has anyone else experienced this?

This isn't a question as much as it is a statement of my opinion. Please I can't take anymore flaming wars right now. I am still trying put out the fire from the other site. [:D][sm=boxer.gif]

It often depends upon the moderators/owners setting the right tone, not interfering unless necessary and then doing so ruthlessly, and over time like attracting like.

Seems this was a "mod free" area they are trying. Yeah, don't think it worked out. I admit I contributed to the flaming, once it got rolling it never stopped. So now people hate each other and so on. Life on a forum I guess.

No other forum is as good as this one [:D]

I am a member of another site and have engaged others in the forums there too. I find it caters more for those that know one another on the scene side of things, and the general tone of threads started are less insightful than they are here on Collarme. The calibre of conversation here is far greater, I'm frequently given new perspectives and challenges to existing trains of thought, and I enjoy the many different personalities I encounter.

Yeah I quit going there a while ago-- the snarky one from Alaska finally made me realize I didn't want any friends there...on the bright side, the one with the Eagle avatar over there trolls around here frequently, I have spoken with him..

Evility -> RE: Other forums (1/7/2008 3:17:49 AM)

One of the other big fetish websites suffered a hard crash the week before Christmas and was down for several days. I came over here to CM to look around and found that the forums here are generally much better behaved. There are a few flaws common to both forums (and I suspect to any fetish forum) such as the anti-poly threads thinly cloaked as "questions" but beyond that I think this forum is far and away much better than theirs regarding content and the actual forum software is easier to navigate.

Another commonality is that the servers on both of these sites are both slower than molasses in January.

pompeii -> RE: Other forums (1/7/2008 5:33:31 AM)

I generally do the alt chat and the cm message boards. Dunno why. The norcal on alt is a decent chat, friendly, small (about 20 pervs at any one time). I never tried the cm chat. Is there a norcal room?

PanthersMom -> RE: Other forums (1/7/2008 5:43:42 AM)

personalities can clash anywhere, one site isn't necessarily better than another, but possibly the personalities that haunt the boards are a different class of pervs.  "birds of a feather....." as they say.

In terms of BDSM forums on the net!  CM has been my favorite, no matter how bad it might seem to get at times.

In terms of forums in general, the better ones tend to be moderated and not some free for all.

Any forum on any subject can result in heated flaming without moderation.

breatheasone -> RE: Other forums (1/7/2008 7:27:01 AM)

I hear ya on the "other sites" thing...I survived alt.com, just barely LOL. Talk about baptism by fire! I was completely new to the scene and ended up at that God forsaken site.

verysweet -> RE: Other forums (1/7/2008 7:40:41 AM)

I was never a big user of  "A.com", but I have been a poster/lurker on "B.com" longer than I care to remember.  The snarkiness there doesn't phase me a bit, and I've forged some rather interesting internet friendships.

Having said that, the general tone of this forum seems to be more welcoming and a lot less 'uber-cliquey'.

Cameron23 -> RE: Other forums (1/8/2008 11:03:11 AM)

In the short time I've been here, there does seem to be a little more acceptance of switches and alternative lifestyles in general.  I guess I will just have to keep coming here to find out if that is true.[;)]

Competition is good, but too much competition increases gonadal behaviors: balls swell, brains shut down - it isn't pretty.
