Thanks, to each his own, but it sounds kind of insulting in my opinion.

I tend to regard it as a period where someone isn't considering anyone but dominant X as their dominant, or submissive X as their submissive, but they have not agreed to enter into a power dynamic yet.

"Under consideration" sounds a lot like being "a little bit pregnant to me."  In my mind, you either "are" or you "aren't."  It's not like taking a car off the lot for a test drive.  (Unless that's your kink, and I'm not judging...)  [8|]

i don't think you are judging at all.  i agree and  to me it also says, Let's see if you're good enough for me or not. i have two words for those kind of people and it's not Merry Christmas. :)

Isn't the what the entire process of getting to know someone is basically?

Are you good enough, will you work out with me? Can I get along with you, share a house with you, can you manage money, will you be a parent, will you make me have kids? Can I submit to you 24/7? Is marriage and family important to you?

It's one long process of finding out if the other person is good enough.

adoracat -> RE: What does it mean to be (1/6/2008 11:15:13 PM)

what aquatic said.

yes, i had "under consideration" on my profile for a while.  in my case, it was "i'm talking to one person exclusively for a while to see how things may go with him, this is a heads-up for anyone looking at me as a prospective sub that i may very well tell you to pass me on by because i'm not all that available at the moment".

and as it happened, the consideration turned into collaring.  its NO different than a girl at a club who's having a girl's night out with her friends politely declining to give out her number to a man and stating "sorry, i already have someone i'm seeing" without being married or otherwise "claimed" by the man.

i wanna see where things are going to go with ONE person.  not every dominant who takes it into his mind to message me.

Maya2001 -> RE: What does it mean to be (1/7/2008 4:26:19 AM)

I used as well, it was a long distance relationship, it was going to be months before the first face to face  meet was planned, I wanted to keep my profile up so I could send messages to others as friends but did not want to constantly have Doms constantly writing to me asking me if I would interested in them.  It was a way to say I am not available at the current time and still be able to recieve emails here

Consideration collars began way before internet.    I think I would prefer a period of consideration versus---the instant collar with velcro attached.

RCdc -> RE: What does it mean to be (1/7/2008 4:06:15 PM)

I see it as a way of announcing your not on the menu, as it were - or keeping someone off limits to others.  I don't see it as disrespectful persay, however to me, it's just as easy to say I am currently in negotiation, or tell people straight out your not looking.  It isn't an area that interests me, but if its something that makes you happy and content then is all cool.

Shawn1066 -> RE: What does it mean to be (1/7/2008 4:09:14 PM)

I've always understood "under consideration" to be the lifestyle version of "talking" that the Nillas have.  Same thing...different name.

xxblushesxx -> RE: What does it mean to be (1/7/2008 7:21:44 PM)

Yeah, it's like a promise ring. It's not an engagement, it's a consideration for a certain amount of time. During that time, you will not be considering others, nor will your partner.

Then again, from what I've seen some 'experienced' doms tend to use it to use subs. Just be careful who you allow to 'claim' you as their own.

More like "going steady" I'd think. Not all that serious but you aren't seeing other people.
