Whether or not one is for or against the death penalty…most people don’t condone ‘putting down’ the mentally ill.  
 
Ya know, it’s a lot cheaper to house the criminals than it is to kill ‘em anyway.  I say let the small-time pot-smokers go and make room for the really bad people, and put the mentally ill in secure hospitals.
 
As far as the Irish joke.........I think it was a factious jab at all the Hispanic 'illegals'.

I thought it was pretty dimestore pop psych, myself.  But probably true.  People use humor to deal, to distance themselves from such gruesome stuff.

Status: offline 		What kind of sauce did he use??? ketchup? barbeque?? mayonaise??? did he had any salt or pepper?  the cops must be leaving out these details for a reason.

Status: offline 		I read the article this week and it was a real eye opener.  I live in Tyler and having only moved to the States within the past couple of years tend to forget just how whacked some people are.  No, I am not saying that is an American trait just that the country I lived in was a lot smaller and therefore safer.  I have always felt safe in my home and locking doors and windows at night has always been a hit and miss thing, but perhaps that needs to be re-evaluated.

Status: offline 		yes Gwynvyd, alot of cops are a little twisted.  my dad was a cop for over 30 yrs in a big city and lordy the stories he could tell!  get a bunch of the old timers together at a cop picnic, like the fraternal org. family parties every summer and omg you'd leave with your sides hurting from laughing so hard.  i love listening to old cops, they have the best stories.  of course it helps to have a morbid sense of humor, because alot of the humor comes from trying to find something to relate the horror to in order to cope with it.  some sense of irony, something anything in order to make the horriffic nightmares a little easier to cope with.

my ex was a corpsman in the navy. he came home with some wild stories too.

his best one was tht one time a student pilot had fubar'ed his takeoff and didnt sruvive the landing, he had to be identified by his dental work...and they had a brand new-to-the-navy dentist doing the identification.

j and the autopsy doctor....were discussing the best ideas for bbq'ing brisket.  fortunately there was a large garbagecan right outside the door to the clean room.
