How many people in the lifestyle are dancers? Having been in a college dance department for years, we saw an underlying masochism in most dancers, particularly in ballet.

Are there other ballet dancers on Collarme? If so, do you incorporate dance into your lifestyle?

Ballet and the lifestyle?  DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT!
You gave me so many hot visions and thoughts ... thats like a whole new catagory of stuff you could do....
Like this is going to think out over the next few years...lol

Now I know why I always wanted to lead, I ended up teaching ballroom and latin, mostly to kids and young adults.but havent done it for so long I doubt I make it throu a waltz let alone a tango or pasa double.

My slave charlotte, and her twin sister, both did ballet for well over a decade.  charlotte's actually considering going back into it.

go to most strip clubs and you'll probly have the option to pay to see one of your buddies whipped, beaten, and scratched till they bleed on stage.
dancing and bdsm, there you go.
and most exotic dancers are submissive as is my expirience, myself ( a former dancer ) included. lol, you'd be surprized at the number of bruises they all carry that don't show up under the black-lights.

I guess Master beat me to it.

I wouldn't have attributed my dancing to being masochistic although i can see the link for some. For me i didn't enjoy the pain but trained myself to work through it. Actually, now that i'm thinking about one of the things i do find so wonderful about dancing is pushing myself past that point where i don't want to push anymore, i don't want to jump once more, or stay on pointe any longer but once you push past that there is a certain freedom that is found and the pain did become enjoyable. I had never thought of it before.

Oh and i agree with the people who have said that ballroom dance has D/s elements. I was taking salsa for a bit and had a class one night where the teacher kept saying "It is the woman's job to follow, she must never lead!" It was a lovely night as i spent the rest of the class half listening to her and half noticing all the elements of it that i had never noticed.

Hmmmm

Is there a way to get "She's a Dancer",  the Crack the Sky song playing in the backround of the thread???

MsElle -> RE: Dancers and BDSM (1/11/2008 2:30:42 PM)

I danced ballet for years, and there is indeed a great deal of physical pain involved in its perfection, but I am a perfectionist, not a masochist, and I enjoy pushing myself to create beauty as much as I enjoy pushing my slaves to do it.  Dance doesn't have anything to do with BDSM to me since I never did any of it to please anyone but me.

Also, interestingly, both Taggard and I are dancers and not the slightest bit submissive.  Even in ballroom where the majority of the 'leading' is done by the male, my focus is always on the beauty of the two figures moving together - and you'd be amazed how much communication goes BOTH ways when there is real connection on the floor.  I have indeed seen Taggard pull out his Domly charm with submissive girlies who love to be lead around the floor though - it's very cute ;) - and I won't say that I haven't noticed a lot of submissive girls who enjoy dance for the pain and beauty of it, as well as a correlation between traditionally 'feminine' activities and submissive personalities - but certainly not all of them.  The term 'prima ballerina' is NOT refering to a shy retiring little submissive girl - those bitches want to be worshipped, and get it!

I suck at dancing.

I have this internal rhythm, but it appears to only work for the singing...I can keep any rhythm in my head, but can't move it to my feet or body.

I think I'd give my soul to be a good dancer.

If it makes you feel any better kitten, I'm not even sure I have internal rhythm. I just tell people that "I don't dance - I suffer a petit mal and pray it's in time to the music"

FullCircle -> RE: Dancers and BDSM (1/11/2008 3:42:44 PM)

I have two left feet which makes me ideal for masochistic dancing partners, just to let you all know.[8|]

(edit: ic added to masochist)

Lucylastic -> RE: Dancers and BDSM (1/11/2008 5:03:28 PM)

My first heavy relationship was with one of the guys who started coming to a night class, he had some experience but wanted to learn more. Me all o f 14, assisting the class, him 18, he had natural sinous rhythm, hip movement to die for, they  were learning the rumba, he asked me to dance to "practice", we were together on and off  until I was 19,  but when we were dancing it was just electric every time, like being held in air, losing myself in his arms and the music, following the slightest change...... He could lead me around all night on the dance floor, smiles it was the only time.......Yum, thanks for the memories MsElle[:)]

We should get a CollarMe recital going!  I am dying to get back to some ballet...Maybe we can all perform at Mercnbeth's this spring!  We'll get SingleRarity to come out and we can do Balanchine's Apollo.  I have always wanted to dance Apollo with tow incredibly beautiful slave girls!!!

Ok, I am just dreaming, but a boy can have his dreams, right?

Taggard

(Only half kidding.)

What a fun idea......  could we do a Mark Morris thing, too, since Balanchine didn't allow for norks in his choreography!
