I said WITH AN ADULT.  I think you can find sources all by yourself about the effects on children under 12 of sexual relationships with an adult.

I tend to agree with Samboct.
 
When my father was 16, he was "involved" with his 28 yr old teacher. This was like 1950. He married my mom a few years later and she's told me that she owes this woman a debt of gratitude for the education my father received.
 
When Master was 16, He received a similar education from His drummer's older sister- age 24. He certainly does not regret this or feel scarred.
 
Granted, 16 is very different than 14 in most cases. But I know that when I was 14, I was totally ready for sexual relationships- that year I had both my first boyfriend and my first girlfriend. If I could have found an older man to "tutor" me, I would have not only been an apt pupil, but in heaven as well.
 
And don't even start me on 18 as the age of consent. Most people are fully sexual well before that.

Seeks- I thought trying to catch a catfish bare handed was "noodling"?  I always thought canoodling involved nookie.

Summary- intergenerational sex is widely known throughout history and various cultures.  While currently taboo in our culture, there is little evidence to suggest that it causes widespread damage.   There is clearly a boundary between children (i.e. prepubescent) and adolescent(post- pubescent)- the likelihood of injury is to the child- younger increases the likelihood as one would expect.  However, even in non-consensual cases (and there's a nice debate if there ever can really be consensus between an adult and a child) emotional damage does not necessarily follow.  There's also some interesting comments on the nature of pedophilia.

i'm just curious about this. my Mistress is a teacher. now by comparison let's not get into a this is a teacher thing. i understand that it was a teacher but on the same hand how about men or women who solicit underage people.yes i agree it was stupid of this one in particular to do so and she should face all the legal ramifications therein of the situation.  but i guess what i am saying is this, out of respect to those who are teachers and do not engage in that sort of activity so to speak,let's not loop the bad ones with the good ones.
