In April in Fort Lauderdale, they are having a three day BDSM weekend. It's suppose to be very big and very nice, and i am hoping to go if my Owner says yes. Does anyone have any advice or tips for me since it will be my first event of this kind. Is there anything i should look out for etc? i would like to make the most of my experience.Thanks so much.

For a first timer: Don't go with expectations, go to simply be filled with new experiences. Try to give yourself a day off afterwards to come back to earth. If you overpack, do it smartly. Your clothes really don't matter much after the first half hour in the dungeon :) Give yourself a shopping budget and stick to it.

I suggest that you visit the event website. Find out what presentations/demos/workshops will be taking place and plan your schedule to attend those that interest you. Check out the entire weekend's event schedule and make the most of what is offered. If you have questions, don't hesitate to email the event organizers. And if there are certain things that you don't feel comfortable attending on your own (like the evening's dungeon activities), find a friend that can go with you. If you haven't been to an event before, then I suggest that you try to take everything in that you can. It will be a great learning experience, if nothing more. Even those things that you wouldn't attend a second time will leave you wiser for the experience. John

What event? We live nearby, but rarely if ever go public, so I am clueless as to local events. But I am oh-so curious to go to one!

What would you do if you were going to a weekend about some vanilla topic? You'd look at the schedule...plan your time...spend some money. Now, add fashion and adult topics to that. How does it change things? People are people no matter where you go. At a conference, no matter what kind, there's a huge group of people with something in common. Just be yourself. Have fun! Clothing may be required in the vending area and workshop areas, dungeons probably genitals need to be covered, if there is a restricted camping area could be anything or nothing .... all depends on the rules of that particular event and should be outlined clearly on the website

My advice: take me with you. [:D] I have never been to at weekend retreat, but I would take the advice of MasterFire, Rover and LA. I cant give you any advice better than they already have given you. Would you mind posting a like to their site either here or to me on the other side? Thanks Phin

i think a lot of U/us would like to go. i, like a couple of others, never hear about events like these until they've been over and done with. And the few i've heard of are either ones that con't appear the same city twice, or ones that are now defunct for whatever reason.
