ORIGINAL: sambamanslilgirl i don't like the new feature. i just realized two dominants (1 of them is my stalker dom) in which i turned down flatly and blockeed added me to their favorites list. i was better off not knowing since i never really look at my Admirers list. I concur (for different reasons however; it's a nuisance...it societally obligates you to offer the same thing in return when someone "friends" you. I like all the people that have "admired" me on their buttons...I just find the whole thing juvenile and reminiscent of junior high). I'm quoting myself (is that like masturbation?). I was thinking about this the other night, and it occurred to me that the site owners are attempting to make the site more "sticky"...a term often used to indicate whether or not users are not only using it more...but encouraging others to do so as well. Which only makes sense...the site costs somewhere between $5,000.00 a month and $15,000.00 a month to operate (I'm only guessing...I'm sure I could be wrong on either end of the spectrum....but I would lean certainly towards the higher number), and anything they can do to encourage users to be more active would lend itself more towards the liklihood that users would punch vendors (advertisers) buttons. This would be in direct contrast to years past when the owners were focused on asking users to not copy and paste full OP comments because each paragraph took up additional bandwidth...let alone storage...and rightly so, as they were the only ones writing the checks (thank you again...truly, for all these years of a blank slate for me to run off and be a pain in the ass on far too many occasions...on your nickel). And thankfully, they opted to find a new resource to allow that (advertising)...they couldn't stop people from doing so...and along the way, presumably (sp?) they also discovered that following the curve of users...adding in the potential for advertising revenue as an offset, was more than a useful balance....so.... I would like to correct myself as to my earlier (above) comments on the "friend" button thing...and allow me to say...while I'm not a big fan of it (for the above posted reasons)....I not only understand it...I encourage it. FRIEND ME GAWDAMMIT!!!!! (I have succombed). I am Borg.
