ORIGINAL: Maya2001 He was not street car racing, he was simply driving on the highway going 61 kilometers per hour over the speed limit which is pretty common to see on the 400 series highways here, which anything over 50 is an automatic suspension of your licence and car impounded and a minimum $2000 dollar fine. I know I am guilty of doing that myself especially on the back highways at night when I am going to work I am only see 1 or 2 cars on the drive, I will often be doing the 120 in the 80, but will pass thru a tiny town which the speed limit is 50 and I won't realize I have passed the town, as I may be day dreaming instead ...which would put me 70 over With this new law though, I am going to really have to smarten up or start setting the cruise control to ensure I am not going to be doing over the 50 if my mind wanders And as a teen I used to do my share of street racing with a 1970 plymouth fury III, could often beat the corvettes, mustangs and transAMs on the shorter stretches between traffic lights because it had better weight distribution so I could get the jump start while they are still sitting in one spot spinning their tires, but the streets were no where as busy as they are nowadays in the bigger cities I dont know if this is in the works now or not but i heard over the radio street racers now face $10,000 fine, loss of car, loss of license, jail time. Speeding tickets 50 clicks over lose car(for a week), suspended license(not a loss of), 5 or 6 points off (i know this one cause i was in a car while the driver was stopped as we were going to the casino on derry rd on a sunday), $700 fine. this happened about 4 years ago though.
